11) OK, I lied... my 11 favs. One louder. A considerable amount of the process emissions from cement production are offset by Carbonation. This year along CEMENT is sequestering 800,000 tonnes of CO2!

7) Even limiting global warming to 2C is objectively extremely difficult at this point.

If you want to subvert a democracy, the first three institutions you try to capture with loyalists are the military, the justice system, and the intelligence community. Trump is on the offensive against all three.

Please read this. It's literally been 8 years in the writing. The first wave of tech disruption of democracy 2016-2024 is over. What starts now is something much, much worse: the age of information chaos. 1/ theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

I cannot emphasize enough how disturbing it is that Fulton and Dekalb county voting precincts were targeted for bomb threats. These are the biggest, Blackest counties in Georgia. A quarter of the state's Black population between them.

Something that Tanya Talaga said a couple of weeks ago that hasn’t left me: when you think of Murray, think of the weight of hearing thousands of accounts of untold horror, and the toll it would take on your body. Think of taking that on. cbc.ca/news/politics/…

As a former Environment Minister responsible for environmental assessments I can't emphasize how bonkers it is that this mega CCS project won't require a provincial environmental assessment despite huge risks in terms of safety, impact, effectiveness, cost. All risk to Albertans.

People talk a lot about resilience in terms of rebuilding infrastructure. The best resilience to climate disruption is... COMMUNITY. Places where people care for each other will survive & recover better than places where people are divided, thinking zero-sum, and lonely.

NEVER EVER have I ever seen anything like this before and I have covered many many disasters. With brooms, buckets, food and water in hand, the Valencian community go and help their neighbours ♥️♥️♥️

Thrilled to see this project get some scrutiny. The industry sees it as their moonshot. And how incredible it would be to sequester all that carbon. But dude: there are significant uncertainties and they should bear tough examination. Keep ‘em coming @thenarwhalca!!

Oilsands companies want to transport carbon pollution through a 400-km pipeline and bury it in rural Alberta. Yesterday, the energy regulator said it won't require an environmental assessment. Here are 5 questions being asked by locals along the route. thenarwhal.ca/alberta-pathwa…
