It's better to understand the #AMOC risk than to be ignorant. I have videos of 50 minutes (my Alfred Wegener Medal lecture), 35 minutes and 15 minutes on our YouTube channel. This one is the shortest, for those with little time. Watch & share. youtu.be/mm_YZ2juQL4

Another year, another climate gap. 🌍🔥🌡️ It's the 15th time I joined the lead author team of the @UNEP #Emissionsgap report. How high are global emissions? What have countries pledged? And is this all aligned with the Paris Agreement? Let’s dig in with a 🧵/1

🌊Flash floods are deadly, but they are notoriously difficult to forecast. This innovative system from @KICTnews can give warnings of flash floods at least one hour in advance – enough time to save lives and protect property 👉ow.ly/E5Bj50RU3tZ #EarlyWarningsForAll

The best place to relax is near water. After just 2 minutes of viewing water outdoors, blood pressure and heart rate drop. It's more calming to look at a lake, pool, or stream than trees or grass. Beaches are popular for a reason. Wider bodies of water bring more tranquility.

The Australian government has quietly released the map of mass coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef this summer, confirming that the 5th event in just 8 years is the most severe & the most widespread ever. This time, only the far north has escaped. elibrary.gbrmpa.gov.au/jspui/bitstrea…

If you look carefully, you’ll find ONE location across the vast southern Great Barrier Reef that is coloured blue It’s the only tiny spot where heat exposure didn’t exceed the 4 Degree Heating Weeks threshold that triggers coral bleaching. We’ve never seen bleaching like this.
