Include the entire team in discussion before OR (anesthesia, ICU, blood bank), gentle retraction of intestines, 0.25 in Penrose drains rather than umbilical tape, padded clamps, felt for the anastomoses. Avoid HTN intraop & post-op, gentle fluid resuscitation.

My personal experience with VEDS has been more with visceral/iliac aneurysms, although a few AAA as well. I rely more on growth rate and worrisome features (i.e. extreme tortuosity, irregular wall changes) than absolute size in choosing to operate. #JVSCITTweetChat #AortaEd
