I visited the neighborhoods with my parents. Needless to say it was an emotional experience, and this article is a labor of love. Jaranwala residents had little to begin with — the violent mob took away their hope too dawn.com/news/1771205

Great piece on Joyland by @zmlkn “Joyland is about many things - and one thing in particular that stood out to me was its examination of the violence of male passivity and inaction.” tinyletter.com/zahramalkani/l…

The project that is going to kill an entire ecosystem, an entire green belt, the project that is going to destroy the whole of Malir, naming the project as Malir Expressway is nothing but insulting to the people of Malir. The people of Malir have nothing to do with BTK or DHA

Good progress is being made on the development of Malir Expressway by #SindhGovt. In the 1st phase, our target is to complete the section from Qayyumabad to Airport by August this year. It will only take 10 minutes to reach airport through this expressway #KarachiWorks

Ugly, devastating, heartbreaking images. A thriving aquatic ecosystem, a habitat for so many, humans, birds, & so many more who love who cared for & who will still return to it, where there was water, shade, sacred places. Now there is this. Everywhere, just this. The horror.

Grief, rage, poetry, love. Stunning report by @zmlkn on Pakistan's devastating floods. "A desperate farmer asking the government to just bomb his village and end their suffering. Dozens of men piling their bodies together to block a bursting embankment. Real end of times shit."

Feel incredibly grateful to @zmlkn for writing this outstanding essay, where magical writing and meticulous reporting come together to truly account for what all is lost in the floods, and the sacred nature of what rivers and lakes mean to their people. worldweathernetwork.org/report/khoj-re…
