Mathed it out, and not only is taking the bus (by far) the most expensive way to get to the city on a Saturday night, even driving to the the edge of the city zone and park-and-riding the rest is more expensive than just driving all the way in and paying for parking.

If you want to get knee deep in the Mayor’s draft budget proposal the council has posted all of the staff advice aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/plans-projects…. And the video of the elected members workshop is on YouTube. Nice transparency.

the one new zealand party organiser who's still relevant in 2024 politics

Due to recent events I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the New Zealand Party. Didn’t happen. No proof.

I just realised my biggest example of pulling rank as an editor is, ironically, being very strict about going hardout when doing a ranking. Anyway here's 11,000 words on Auckland malls, as ranked by a team of eight Spinoff writers thespinoff.co.nz/business/22-11…

One other insightful point about that event: for all its imbecile lawlessness and modest size, it catalysed a political realignment that has achieved many of its aims by putting cranks into govt The task now is for this toitū movement to do similarly, and they seem well capable

The chuds who called 1k people hurling human faeces outside parliament a 'revolution' are scrambling to call 55k+ insignificant 😂

Typically excellent work from @JoelMacManus dissecting the City to Sea bridge issue and the need to draw a line in the sand in Wellington when it comes to heritage. Can probably rinse and repeat for Begonia House as well.

I did about a half dozen front page stories about Trump’s tariff in The Washington Post during the campaign. It is true that I can’t literally go around and hold people’s eyeballs open Clockwork Orange style and force them to consume what I write

Then why is it that AFTER the election, people who voted for Trump are just learning what tariffs will do to the economy? Why was there barely any reporting disputing Trump’s claims about them & allowing him to lie and say he’d create a great economy? I truly want to understand.

Some Councillors just want to burn stuff down. Some of them doing it since the moment Tory Whanau was elected. We have councillors like that in Auckland too. It’s a game to them and their achievements aren’t for the people or the city it’s just about the politics. Sadly.

City councillors literally leaking emails to the media that the observer is copied in on 🤷🏻‍♀️

Currently on the Te Huia scheduled as the fastest; weekday 3:20pm This speedy service just did City to Puhinui in 19mins! Compare that to 55 by car… if you follow a clever tricky route Looking forward to more express trains for longer trips when 3rd main & CRL are finished
