What are we currently up to? Well currently I'm helping @SocketSecurity with developing their service + having another one day a week contract for another client + exploring some personal projects and expressions through eg. @yikesableprints / @voxpelli

Celebrating two years as a freelancer with my @yikesable this month 🥳

When u’re on a slow connection, JavaScript takes a while to load. UI elements that need JS to work will be unusable while that happens. This is why progressive enhancement matters. If u rely on JS, please make sure the loading/empty states don’t give users tiny heart attacks. 🥹

As some of you know I have been exploring 3d printing for a while. I have shared that progress mostly on Instagram but got around to set up a Twitter account for it: @yikesableprints Follow it if you want to tag along 🙏 (Blog with RSS is coming @SaraSoueidan 😅🐦)

Happy to see @nodejs be fully free at last. When considering @deno_land and other venture backed similar projects, remember to take the governance model of those projects into account. It can have quite the impact over time.

Exciting news today! Joyent has transferred ownership of the Node.js trademarks to the OpenJS Foundation to help protect the work of the Node.js collaborators. We’ve worked hard to make OpenJS a stable, neutral home for the JavaScript community. openjsf.org/blog/2022/02/1…

Agree. Make conscious informed decisions. Don’t just go with the flow and cargo cult. Eg: Move from Express to Fastify, from Bunyan to Pino, from Request to Undici

Poignant. Avoid justifying tool or library selection with absurdly huge (eg ~100m pm) download numbers. As far as node frameworks go that tends to be a sign that it’s for legacy cases only. Vote with your feet on core functionality, don’t blindly follow the network effect.

Gracious me will share this list with them 😅 twitter.com/i/lists/147082…

GitHub Actions is such a powerful feature that many of us has still only scratches the surface of. Looking forward to digging further into this CI/CD/you name it amazingness. (It surely makes us go yikes at times 😱)

Really happy with the new canary setup for my personal eslint config, resolving a JSON list to a GitHub Actions matrix: github.com/voxpelli/eslin…

We’re available for new tasks, putting more yikes in the world, making a dent, doing something good, making the complex simple and the simple yikesable 🙌

Got free from my current assignment a bit earlier than originally anticipated, so open to new freelance work in Node.js, JS, semantic HTML, standards, IndieWeb etc starting immediately.

Them: You should get yourself a business card. Us: A card is boring. We want fun. What’s fun? Stickers. So, um, yikes! 🥳

This team operates with the urgency we should all feel when it comes to climate. Amazing progress 📈

At Charm we inject plants-turned-carbon-soup deep underground to fight climate change. We’ve now delivered over 5,000 tons CO₂e removal since January. We believe this is the largest permanent carbon dioxide removal delivery of all time. charmindustrial.com/blog/largest-p… 1/10

Published a somewhat improved version of my post on open source donations and taxes, this time on dev.to rather than LinkedIn. A good read on how powerful reciprocal donations and trickle down effects currently may be hard to achieve. dev.to/voxpelli/open-…

This was a great reminder on the Node.js event loop (which exists outside of V8, within libuv) and the fact that Promises behave more like a nextTick() than a setImmediate(). Thanks @jasnell nearform.com/blog/optimise-…

nobody: absolutely no one: me: so you asked for 5000 words on the state of modern devices, networks, browsers, and website construction that will depress you about the state of JS entitlement, but eventually leave you hopeful we can solve it? Ok: infrequently.org/2021/03/the-pe…
