A few years ago we all met in Waldorf with @tstuefe , @volker_simonis , and Kelvin to learn about Lilliput and Shenandoah. Now both are either in or going in. Congrats! (and I need to find that picture)

And ... it's landed! 🥳🥳 Thank you for your patience! And huge shout-out to @tstuefe and @stekarmatrik and all other contributors (too many to list them, check the PR) for all their help and support! 🙏🙌

Object headers (and yes GC) are reasons .NET and Java are called out for memory usage. Lilliput works like magic. Just run on a new runtime and your memory footprint shrinks and the code runs faster. @davidfowl / @rkennke how does .NET compare here?

🎉🥳 Lilliput 4-Byte headers - IT’S ALIVE!! 🥳🎉 I can now allocate objects with a bunch of fields (e.g. 4 bytes or 1 int or 1 reference) into a single 64-bit word 😁

OpenJDK 22 is forked for rampdown. Nightlies: builds.shipilev.net/openjdk-jdk22/ Start testing it! The bugs we find in JDK 22 are likely the bugs that happen in JDK 21 as well, the sooner we discover and fix them, the sooner JDK 21 is stable for prod. Prefer fastdebug builds, if you can.

Attending the JCP in NYC for the first time was a real treat! Thanks @heathervc @gsaab and the BNY Melon team for your warm hospitality. So many other cool people that I met and continued to meet afterwards! a short article covering the event. infoq.com/news/2023/09/j…

The attacks against civilians in Israel are shocking and painful to watch. I have been in touch with our teammates there to make sure we do everything we can to help support their family’s and their safety, and to assist however we can in this very difficult time. We’re also in…

It's long been hard to do secure fast Open Source cryptography and FIPS. Libraries would omit compatibility, or use slow and side-channel prone implementations in FIPS mode. Now AWS-LC does fast, secure, open-source, first class rust bindings, and FIPS! aws.amazon.com/blogs/security…

It was a lot more nuanced, don't @ me 🦆🦆🦆

Well, @yigalatz said it! Don’t use Mocks nor LOMBOK!

One of the best days to start your day at the Corretto team is to onboard an @OpenJDK contributor. Today was a special day, thanks @shipilev for trusting us.

Excited to be in the middle of my first day as Principal Engineer, Corretto, Languages and Runtimes, AWS. Impressive number of things to do on my list already. Back to OpenJDK and related work!
