Got seriously worried about my son today. He had a career day today at school. Once I got home he started telling me about how exciting the ‘medical career’ station was. Me: after a stressful week was thinking: poor boy … silly enough to be like dad. don’t!!

Between April 2020 to January 2021, we performed 100 oesophago-gastrectomies in Nottingham. Of these, 70 were done in the independent sector @BMIThePark, while @nottmhospitals rightly concentrated on our sick #COVID cases. Cross sector #collaboration & #teamwork has been vital
In my view ... the main strength of this paper is the very large number !!! #ASGBIEastMidsJC
My take home: if fit ... operate now ... if not fit .... operate when optimised .... if doable !!!! #ASGBIEastMidsJC
And why do we delay? Is it because they are unfit? I think probably yes !!! Hence more complications !!! It is the race of getting them fitter for an operation .... #ASGBIEastMidsJC
