We're excited to share Ascend's $30m Series A fundraise led by @Mark_Goldberg_ to further our mission of making it easier for people to protect the things they care about. useascend.com/blog-posts/ann…

Congrats to @Mark_Goldberg_ and the Chemistry team! Mark is more than a great investor - more importantly a great person whose heart and mind are in the right place. I'm excited to see what Mark and team accomplish!

Some personal news -- today we’re launching Chemistry (!) a new firm founded by @kshenster, @ethankurz and me with our debut fund of $350M. We'll be leading high conviction investments at the Seed and Series A. Why did we start something new? 👇

The playbook for vertical SaaS is getting obvious: 1. hardware as the loss leader 2. software for differentiation 3. fintech for revenue and profit

Toast $TOST, gross profit composition, Q1 2021 - Q1 2024. "Financial Technology" is the revenue from payment processing and lending 👇🏻

We had an inbound lead from a decision maker at a top 10 enterprise account....that came in via bing. Welcome to insurance.

Software is the value prop

Great post by @chamath There is a third path, which in my opinion is the most sustainable one. Wrap payments within software or other value added services. Software (or the other value added service) is your value prop to the customer, but the business / monetization model is…

Getting served ads for overpriced faux "working man" gear while reading commentary about the current working vs elite class divide in the US is too perfect.

Sometimes I look at the businesses who @useascend to pay for their insurance to get a sense for who they are. Today I saw "Florida's Largest Turtle Farm" paid for their insurance with Ascend 🐢🐢🐢🐢

Anybody know of any VC backed cos that raised so much money in the boom times that they are covering their burn in investment yield?

It's great to hear directly from our customers how much time we are saving them. Thank you @paradisoins for telling us about the 35% time reduction your team is spending on back office work by using @useascend

Another good post from the folks at @EqualVentures on the insurtech space.

1) While much of the $30bn+ in insurtech funding has been focused on “disruptors”, we’re BIG believers in enabling the ecosystem via digital transformation Particularly important to us at @EqualVentures is the role that tech can play to enable agents medium.com/@EqualVentures……

I spend 90% of my waking hours working on a startup but it's absurd to say a company "easing the eternal hassles of expense reporting" is the most innovative company in America. If it is, we are royally screwed as a country/species. fastcompany.com/90848912/most-…

a good reminder to keep going!

This is great post for anybody thinking about insurtech. These trends were critical in our decision to start @useascend

1/ Insurtech promised to disrupt legacy distribution, but it didn't happen. New post explains why we're excited about digitization of agent value chain. link.medium.com/k8QFWYjCywb

If bigcos simply eliminated "quick introductions" at the beginning of every call they would be meaningfully more efficient.

Why don't airport drop-offs have the location of the security checkpoints (regular, TSA-pre, etc)? Feels more productive in an era when a majority of customers don't use counters.
