INCREDIBLE Shelter Island Science Club Students making a difference! We helped @CCEofSuffolk weave eel grass shoots into burlap 'tortillas' SEVERAL hundred shoots will be planted tomorrow in our local bay! #bluecarbon Building a healthier bay ecosystem! @STANYSorg @NYSMTP

Last year, we tried @pioreactor This year, we started a cluster! Lots of student experiments planned! Little, inexpensive, Bioreactors for sustained liquid culture growth. Automatic OD600 growth curves! Way Cool! @STANYSorg @NYSMTP @KuhnboBio

I know it wasn't perfect, but ss in my Freshman Bio class hypothesized about what organic compounds make up a cell membrane. After adding, lipids amino acids, lipase, phosphates & class discussion of results -we got micelles that stayed suspended in H20. Fun! @STANYSorg @NYSMTP
