My new blog post about my great great great uncle William Allan who was one of the over 100,000 British children who were sent to Canada between 1869 and 1949 vicsfamilyhistory.wordpress.com/2023/09/30/bri…

Harris’ incredibly misguided campaign aside, the way in which millions of young men in this country have been groomed by celebrity misogynists to hate, and rail against, women is truly horrifying.

What history books? They’re banning books and dismantling the dept of education. They’re gonna do everything possible to keep people dumb

The grasp Trump has on uneducated people will be studied in history books one day

People should check their grandparents’ marriage dates and first child birthdates on Ancestry. You’ll be surprised!

I know I am 73-years old, but....we didn't have sex before marriage, so therefore, there was no need for all these abortion clinics. We controlled ourselves. Is there some reason the women of "today" can't do the same thing? Truly, just asking. Opinions, appreciated.

I have his records book and it seems like the only places abroad he went to were Ghana, India and potentially Indonesia. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could figure out if this is true? I’ve tried looking in the British consulate records on FMP but no luck.

There’s a rumour in my family that my great uncle got married and had a child abroad while he was in the merchant navy in the late 50s/early 60s. I’ve been told Hong Kong but not sure how accurate that is. Supposedly that’s why he wouldn’t marry my great aunt until he got cancer

Love when the transcribers put literally any garbled nonsense if they can't read the writing clearly (bare in mind I asked for this record to be opened and sent all the info with the correct name)

Been researching the part of my family tree that's from Lincolnshire and basically every single person is like this. I am tired.

Had this climbing rose in my garden for years. Comes out twice a year, always the same deep pink colour. For some reason this time, it has come out three different colours! Light pink, red and deep pink!

Hi #genealogytwitter! My question is back after a week off + this time it’s an actual question I have. Has anyone taken any courses with Pharos Tutors? What are they like? I’m thinking of taking a couple to “specialise” in probate genealogy but any advice would be amazing!

If you're looking for a reason to watch #Stolen, do it for John Purcell, a child in Kilrush Nursery who lived for five seconds, just long enough to be recorded. Watch it for the thousands of other children who never left the walls of the #MotherandBabyHomes they lived in.

Between 1922 and 1998, over 80,000 unmarried mothers were incarcerated in church-run mother and baby homes. Tomorrow night, new documentary Stolen explores the heartbreaking stories of these women and their families. Stolen, Monday 9.35pm | @rteplayer #rtestolen

Also found out today that this photo has two of my great grandmother’s sisters in rather than the one I thought!

But photos such as this one that I don't know? Aside from a rough date based on the photo/fashion, how else can you work it out!
