I like static typing. But there’re some truly horrible statically typed languages. Because of them, it’s hard to love static typing at times.
Academia is coming up with elegant solutions to problems that don’t exist. Engineering is coming up with horrible solutions to problems we created ourselves.
My hottest tech take: generated source code should be committed. It happened to me so many times when the code generation logic was changed, a bug was introduced and there were no git diff to even compare with the old versions.
