Watch the incredible story of Wojtek - a bear who became a soldier of Gen. Anders’ Polish Army and aided his regiment in the Battle of Monte Cassino. Get your tissues ready for this one! Wojtek’s statue was unveiled #OTD in 2015 in Edinburgh, where he died at the ZOO in 1963.

Please encourage the Prime Minister to do the honourable thing and meet with Anne Puckridge, shortly before her 100th birthday to discuss the frozen pensions policy. #EndFrozenPensions Add your name to the petition below! ⬇️ chng.it/rw4HfBybRq

The frozen pensions policy affects 453,000 UK state pensioners across the world, including 60,000 veterans like Anne Puckridge and Roger Edwards. #EndFrozenPensions Many thanks to @aditimrane and the @Daily_Express for sharing Anne and Roger's stories. express.co.uk/news/uk/196612…

Houses of Parliament - ideal place to be a very large and audacious adolescent herring gull

We are live right now taking evidence as part of our inquiry into the #GreyBelt. Today we are hearing from Simon Ricketts @Town_Legal and Paul Cheshire @LSEGeography Watch here ➡️ parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/62…

More bad news

#Iver Environment Centre have had to cancel their Halloween Family Fun Afternoon/Evening. @GwkSouth have been notified that the bridge on the lane shared with Mansfield Farm is unsafe so no vehicles can use the lane to access the site. colnevalleypark.org.uk/events/hallowe…

Incredibly disappointing and also very ill advised

We are hugely disappointed to learn the government has declined to call an inquiry into Buckinghamshire Council’s decisions to a) sell Green Belt land b) approve an application for Motorway Services in #Iver. This sets an alarming precedent for your local countryside

Thank you, the Marsh Award is a huge honour for us, @blackdownbirder @kenandlindasmi2 & all the Woodpecker Network volunteers raising the profile & gathering data about Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers to try to understand why they are in such trouble & what could be done to help.

A huge well done to Woodpecker Network @LesserSpotNet for winning the Marsh Award for Local Ornithology! Co-ordinated by Ken & Linda Smith and Gus Robin, the group facilitates the study of woodpeckers in Britain and Ireland. @MarshAwards

Thank you so much to the @_BTO for awarding me the Dilys Breese Medal tonight for science communication! I’m over the moon and feel so lucky that I get to spend most days out in nature, trying to get people to love it as much as I do 🦅💚
