As a non-technical person, I’m very proud of our automation stack which we use to run our daily operations at the firm. Mostly built by me and another colleague (also non-technical). No-code tools >>>>>
The person who focuses on one task and sees it through to completion—even if they work in a somewhat slow or outdated manner—beats the endless optimizer who jumps from tool to tool and always hopes a new piece of technology will help them finish what they start.
we all know the truth, but the truth means nothing in Nigeria
I told my 2yo I was coming to his preschool holiday party and he looked really worried and said, “but what chair will you sit in?” Glad to know anxiety about literally nothing is genetic.
If an idea is true, criticism will not destroy it, but strengthen it.
Man!!! This is just terrible.
As of last Sunday, the major accounting system seems to have been composed of, or certainly dominated by, ... Spreadsheets! I say dominated, bc the evidence says $10bn could move without the company knowing. So let's cut the crap and put a label on this.
Crypto billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried: ‘I got involved with no clue what a blockchain was’ The FTX founder on hype, the problem with bitcoin and how crypto can build a fairer financial system ft.com/content/83bc68…

BREAKING: FTX had a “backdoor” built into its accounting software by SBF, which he used to move billions without triggering alerts to other staff, auditors etc - Reuters
For banks to survive, it took more than reserves. The entire policies had to work in their favor. Account restrictions on withdrawals, lending rates, regulations and all were geared to favor banks and shield them from crashing. Fractional reserves don’t work, even banks fail
Most Nigerians do not see ₦20,000 cash in a month, and this is extremely sad.
Why do people excel when they get accepted into accelerators like YCombinator? They meet more ambitious people who challenge them to be better. Iron sharpens iron. “No matter how determined you are, it's hard not to be influenced by the people around you.” - @paulg
I hate being branded as an expert very much. I prefer to be known as a learner. The hubris of expertise limits growth more than anything else. Africa is full of local experts with extremely limited knowledge. Local insights are useless without global context or frameworks.
There is knowledge around us. We only need to seek and we will find. Effort with knowledge is much more effective than effort in ignorance.
Completely agree chief... We should be looking to build what they haven't built. Playing the "clone xyz app" is a failing strategy
A lot of things that seem early in Africa are already late.
