I loved everything about Kris Kristofferson. He was a poet of the everyday. You can find joy even in his sad songs - and that awareness of joy is what he calls a blessing. He’ll be missed.

Kris Kristofferson’s songs were pure poetry, rooted in the sanctity of everyday life. His contributions to Ken Burns’s Country Music added depth and authenticity to the story of that tradition. He will be greatly missed.

RIP Kris Kristofferson (1936-2024) If you listen to this version of 'Help Me Make It Through The Night' from 'Fat City' (1972), you just might cry for the rest of your life.

This is me and @kkristofferson when we first met. Kris helped me to believe in myself as a songwriter when I was a boy. Other than my father, he was my greatest inspiration. He embodied humility and kindness, and carried his grace into his words and music with unique eloquence

The Who performing "Baba O'Riley" Live in Hyde Park, 2015. For those who don't know, the drummer is none other than Ringo Starr's son! Amazing. Baba O'Riley is one of the best pieces of music ever written. #TheWho

My mother, a jazz pianist, adored Dave Brubeck - lost somewhere in packing up the old house is a framed picture of her standing next to Dave, grinning ear to ear.

On this day in 1959, the Dave Brubeck Quartet released their single “Take Five”! “Two years later it became a surprise hit and the biggest-selling jazz single ever. Revived since in numerous movie and television soundtracks, the piece still receives significant radio airplay.…
