NEW: We dove deep into X's "Community Notes" fact-checking program to see how it's faring against a tide of election misinformation, drawing on our own analysis & independent research. The verdict: It's an ingenious idea that is, at this crucial moment, completely overmatched.

NEW: Elon Musk was working unlawfully when he built the startup that made him a millionaire in the 1990s, according to interviews, documents and records obtained by The Washington Post. Board members found out and mobilized to fix it: "We don't want our founder being deported."🧵

One of the stranger things that has happened to me in my journalistic career.

WOW @RobertKennedyJr's running mate @NicoleShanahan tried to bribe a @WashingtonPost reporter with $500,000 to NOT write a story about her

Are you a bot? As AI gets smarter, tests like CAPTCHA or even posting a selfie are quickly becoming "inadequate" to prevent an onslaught of AI agents from overwhelming the internet, researchers warn in a new paper.

Excited to announce that my book about China's most important company, Huawei Technologies, will be out on Jan. 21. Looking forward to sharing this saga of how a small band of entrepreneurs and a nation built something wholly expected ... and all that came next.

Closed protocols that Apple does not even license let alone publish like SharePlay and AirDrop are exactly what the DMA should be aiming at. If Europe is not big enough to push Apple into compliance then more jurisdictions should join the effort.

Do these features actually violate the DMA or is Apple really unable to design around the privacy issues? Or is Apple (partially) doing this to get consumers in the EU to push back against the regulators? Lack of AI, mirroring and tech support is going to get annoying - FAST.
