The beginning of Nussbaum’s book Political Emotions: Why Love Matters for Justice has this quotation from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. So wise and timely.

I’m going to step away for a little. It’s all seeming a bit much for me right now.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Talk about passive-aggressive 🤣

Not going to lie, UT-Austin has a killer stadium.

If you met someone who had never been to a college football game what is one stadium you would tell them they have to visit?

This is the only answer. Though my son got a pack of Halloween Pokémon cards. That’s pretty cool too. I guess.

Post your favorite Halloween candy. I’ll start 👇🏼 Second place isn’t even close. 4 grams of protein too.

Cornerstone of my program’s coaching philosophy. If athletes live in a constant state of threat, they will never be able to perform to their potential.

The building blocks of a resilient cohesive teams are to be a decent human being. Create an environment where people feel supported like they matter and belong.

A mantra I stole from @AvonDistance is “Be hard to beat.” The focus shifts to passing individuals and letting others pass you. If you focus on that, you’ll be happy with the results.

You will finish sooner in XC if you stop obsessing over times and start thinking about racing people.

Not only did Detroit disrespect the Cowboys on the field, now the tweeter game is stepping in! I may be a Lions fan now 🤣

I think it’s from Good to Great, but I may be wrong. Getting the right people on the bus might just be the single most important thing you can do as a head coach. That includes athletes and staff.

Incredibly hard to turn losers into winners. Winners roll the rock downhill. Losers roll the rock uphill. #1 key to turning it around… attract good athletes to your program.
