If you are innovating with GenAI to expand access to public data, we want to know about it and hear your input about what possibilities could be unblocked if public data was published in more AI-ready ways. commerce.gov/news/blog/2024… (9/9)

Growing up, Mrs Meyers was my neighbor. Fixed her printer once, too.
That all the other state govts (and the CBO) don’t rip off Washington State’s intervention cost-effectiveness database is nuts. @Results4America
WA State has a great website listing benefit-cost ratio of all sorts of govt investments. Some have such astronomical econ benefits for every $1 of cost it’s criminal Congress doesn’t fully fund every BCR+ program. Just tracking them would be a good start. wsipp.wa.gov/BenefitCost
This is an interesting project, but seems to conflate Neighborhoods with Community Areas. Neighborhoods have been and are fluid. There is not an official neighborhood map. Community Areas are very structured based on an old study, but have found to be the bones of wayfinding.

Terrific to see this proposal to undo such a silly, self-inflicted screw-up. No one should look at technology and think physical assets as a close analogy. It should be thought of as a way to improve services to people, both inside city departments and to the public.
The 2024 budget proposes to disband the Department of Assets, Information and Services into the new Department of Technology and Innovation & the Department of Fleet and Facility Management, which existed before. "This is long overdue," Johnson says.
Sometimes I think Chicago is the last great American city. Affordable, walkable neighborhoods, effective public transportation, and you can see Buddy Guy for a low cover charge. This would be like a $100 night in San Francisco, where you pay $4k to live in a shoebox

I wrote a paper on how STEM is defined differently across academia and it makes a substantial impact on how you evaluate the success of STEM programs. So I, like, get full pass here, right?
You aren’t allowed to disagree with my science takes unless you have degrees in at least three different STEM fields. Philosophers out here weighing in. Never did a science in their life.
🚨Open Data Alert🚨 - Chicago has launched scooter trip datasets. This data starts with the beginning of the scooter program in May 2022. See the new data here. data.cityofchicago.org/Transportation…. Future scooter trips will show up in the dataset to make it easier for analysis.
100% a problem with how people approach programming with #rstats and any other language. CI/CD, declaring package and R versions, amongst other items really does need to be used. These aren't problems unique to #openscience but perhaps it's where it lags most for best practices.
The numerous blog posts by @DataColada has taken me down a depressing rabbit hole of learning about fraud. So it was with considerable joy when I found a piece about how R is creating problems for replication due to dependencies and network effects. datacolada.org/100
