guess there is a lot of truth to this statement. hopefully, enough people (not only, but especially decision makers) realize that before they back the wrong horse due to false hopes for an easy fix for their problems

Hypothesis: WFH vs. in-office is going to become one of those things that new CEOs like to change whenever they get installed. In office now? Well we need to attract good people wherever they live. Remote working now? Well in-office fosters collaboration/creativity & repeat

⛔ As of today, PHP 7.4, and with that PHP 7 is no longer supported. 🆙 Please upgrade to PHP 8.0, or preferably the latest PHP 8.1 release, 8.1.13. 🆕 PHP 8.2 comes out on December 8th!
There is nothing heroic in putting out the fires you could have prevented.
1/9 Well, this is is good-bye, at least for now. In which I walk away from Twitter: tbray.org/ongoing/When/2…
I want to be right, so I keep looking for how I could be wrong. I ask my coworkers what worries them, how I'm wrong, what I'm missing. I repeat and repeat that I want the bad news, because I can't help fix problems I don't know exist.
I see many job postings in which companies are looking for solution-oriented architects / developers. It may sound absurd but I'd rather look for problem-oriented ones: folks who try to understand the problem first and not those who jump head-first into solutions.
🧵Was ihr jetzt tun solltet. Meine Tipps an Alle. Auch an jene, die Twitter nicht verlassen oder zu einem anderen Dienst wechseln wollen. Denn seit dieser Meldung halte ich die Betriebssicherheit nicht mehr gegeben: twitter.com/ZoeSchiffer/st…
Elon Musk is doing an all hands with Twitter employees. They got a one hour notice and he showed up 15 minutes late.
Only as a last resort, in very specific scenarios, should your architecture *assume* you will ever want or need SPA-oriented tools: client-side data handling, reactive thingamajiggles, router whatsits. 9 times in 10, they're a distraction from doing a good job.
Oddly fascinating how one toxic person can create a toxic company culture in mere days
I confirmed that several Twitter engineers slept in the office over the weekend in effort to make the Wednesday deadline to build the verification feature. A lot of these messages are not ironic: they’re real. It’s understood that those not performing could well be laid off.
Phrased like this it sounds ridiculous but in a corporate context, it becomes perfectly acceptable. 🤷♂️
I wish every DAM system had this “external links” feature. For some assets, it makes sense to list, link and metadata-enrich them without having to copy the actual files into your system’s storage.
bit.ly/3yRReeA Stay tuned for tomorrow when we will show you some exciting things you can do with external links💪

“Because we don’t go into an office now, people think, 'Oh, my God, our culture is gone.' … Culture is not what happens in an office. Free food and Ping-Pong tables are great, but culture is really how work happens between people.” mck.co/3Suz0Iy
