2008-2020: by aggregating polls we can get a more accurate picture of how states will vote 2024: the race will come down to one small poll in Iowa, all other polls are worthless

I’ve been a fan of @StevieWonder for as long as I can remember. That’s why I’m proud to share The Wonder of Stevie podcast from @HGMedia and @Questlove, which explores the five-year period starting from 1972 where Stevie released some of the most groundbreaking albums that…

Is there a single building in Oakland that is more culturally important than the Coliseum?

A beautiful video narrated by the one and only Ken Korach 💚💛

This is hands down the number one perk of living in Berkeley

I lived in Berkeley for a decade many years ago. I came back to give a talk at the university and I completely forgot how good the food is here. Here’s a random aisle in the grocery store with 10 kinds of egg plant.

In the last day: * fed drops interest rates * a bunch of fresh polls with good Kamala numbers * shohei ohtani joins the 50/50 club with a 6 for 6 3 HR 10 RBI game For data nerds is this our Woodstock?

This is incredible and they should do this for all movies shown on tv (if people still watch movies on network tv)

Around 2003 in Chile, when the original trilogy of Star Wars began airing on television there, they did this funny thing to avoid cutting to commercial breaks. They stitched the commercials into the films themselves. Here is one of them, with the English dub added in.

Working on a Friday afternoon, seeing if a query in Postgres on a small ec2 instance will finish faster than one on our ginormous AWS/EMR/Trino setup. Looks like it will, too.

One of the best products to recently come out is the Cosmic Crisp apple. Now the once lowly apple is easily a top 5 fruit for me.

When I published a book in 2020, I assumed I’d make less than this and mostly did it for bragging rights. Turned out I made more like $3000, better than median but still less than minimum wage.

A survey of 5,699 published authors, found that in 2022, their median gross pre-tax income from their books was $2,000. You can generate more revenue than that in less time by mowing lawns in your neighborhood. publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/in…

Billionaires of the Bay Area, to earn back our good graces please: 1. Buy the Oakland #Athletics 2. Turn the Bay Bridge lights back on 3. Buy @AnchorBrewing

I once went to a performance in Berkeley where a symphony played classic songs from video games. After the final song, the conductor asked us to stay for a special guest. They brought this dude out and he belted the pokemon theme song - it was amazing.

The 1999 Pokémon theme song's vocalist, Jason Paige - also a backup singer for Michael Jackson

Do you ever check your phone’s stopwatch app, notice that it’s been running for weeks, and feel bad like you’ve been needlessly exhausting it?
