Tom Crean was born on or shortly before 16th February 1877. It's incorrect to state he was born on 25th February and as for 20th July date, still given as his birthdate in a number of accounts of his life, it too misinforms those wishing to learn more about him. #tomcrean

#OTD 1912 Crean and Lashly refuse an order from the scurvy-stricken, Edward Evans, to continue without him. He was placed on the sledge which they hauled across the ice Evans later revealed that after giving the order, it was Crean who said "If you go out, we all go out together"
