Come to p3.144 today to talk about combing behavioral and serological surveys to get impact estimates of COVID-19 public health messaging campaigns, and other projects about serology, heterogeneous populations, & transmission dynamics for outbreak detection & response #Epidemics9
Several #CIDD folks are presenting at #Epidemics9 including @BreslowDay @thecallumarnold @EmilyHowerton6 and @jlservadio, stop by and say hi👋!
I put together some short thoughts (callumarnold.com/posts/2023-05-…) on the recent Git and GitHub workshop that I ran at @ciddpsu If you have thoughts, similar experiences, advice from running your own workshops, I'd love to hear from you! #github #reproducibleresearch
Looking forward to talking to everyone at @eeid2023 about the new work we've been doing with behavioral surveys to develop transmission models with empirically-grounded heterogeneity! #EEID2023 Link to a high-res version here (osf.io/qbtfs/)
I'm running a workshop at Penn State for scientists that are new to Git and GitHub, with a focus on what actually matters to researchers. The good news is that all the materials are freely available at psu-git.callumarnold.com, so even if you can't come, you can still benefit!
Join us this Thursday at 1.30pm for an Introduction to Git and GitHub seminar at W203 MSC. Check the flyer below for more information.

Congratulations to @EmilyHowerton6 and co-authors on her excellent new paper in @RSocPublishing Interface. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…
📢Hello Twitter, JuliaEpi here🎉! We're a new @GitHub organisation aimed at building computational tools for epidemiological modelling and data management in @JuliaLanguage #JuliaLang #EpiTwitter #OpenScience 🧵👇
It was a long road, but it’s exciting to finally see this work by @thecallumarnold & @Sreesrini94 in print. We document assortativity in the Fall 2020 COVID outbreak in students & residents despite high transmission (>30% sero+) in students nature.com/articles/s4159…
Thank you to the scientists in South Africa who told the world about the new variant. Even though there is a hit to the SA economy as a result. They deserve support.
This topic has been bouncing around in my head for the past year or so, and has definitely shaped my thinking and the direction of my PhD, so it's great to see this from modellers I respect a lot. Great reading for anyone interested in model critiques.

If we make one radical change to our medical scientific system based on COVID experiences, I hope it will be in investing in the infrastructure we need to collect and safely share data. Often feels like we are stuck in the electronic Middle Ages when it comes to data sharing
A preprint from the #Data4Action project at @PSUresearch shows preliminary results from a longitudinal COVID serosurvey. We find IgG prevalence resident cohort low and stable over the course of the Fall term despite high prevalence in students. medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
A preprint of the results from the #Data4Action project studying the impact of student return to campus is now available: medrxiv.org/content/10.110… @ciddpsu @huckinstitutes @PennStateCTSI @PSUresearch
