@suziecreamchee4Passionately pro #realfood and against ultra-processed, carb-rich industrial food like substances.
Also, the National Academies of Sciences in a Congressionally mandated report, found that the USDA-HHS scientific reviews "lacked rigor." And: -->“To develop a trustworthy Dietary Guidelines, the process needs to be redesigned.” -->“The current DGA process for reviewing the…
🚨Stunning paper tried to reproduce a selection of scientific reviews by the USDA-HHS Dietary Guidelines and could not. Found them "to be of critically low quality...with critical methodological weaknesses" Authors could not reproduce searches within a 10% margin of the original…
My take on the just-released scientific report for the US Dietary Guidelines -only 17% of clinical trials listed support claims that these guidelines will promote better health (# is preliminary) -Reducing poultry, meat, eggs will make the guidelines more nutritionally deficient…
US Dietary Guide 2025? This vegetarian Doctor/ Journalist is thrilled. The committee proposes reorganizing "protein" like this: - 1st: Beans, peas, lentils - 2nd: Nuts, seeds, soy products - 3rd: Seafood - Last: Meats, poultry, eggs What do you think? today.com/health/news/20…
“a clinically important biological function of HDL is as a component of the innate immune system” Now, add other lipoproteins, and finally start viewing systems in the right context (“big picture”), not as isolated, druggable compartments. doi.org/10.1016/j.jlr.….
First Time I Have Ever Disagreed With @elonmusk and it’s a Big One. Visceral Fat being eliminated has multitudes more benefit to humans than GLP Inhibitors it’s just knowledge about visceral fat is kept from @elonmusk and everyone else. Nothing improves human health more in any…
Having listen to @Siobhain_Mc ; quite frankly she let herself down, her party down but more importantly UK farmers down.
"My family come from a country where there are lots of farmers, quite hard to find a poor farmer," Labour MP Dame Siobhain McDonagh tells #PoliticsLive as tractors take to the streets of Westminster bbc.in/4iy8GKo
This tendency to omit advice despite strong evidence for UPF, while giving advice for other dietary factors based on weak epidemiology, was very striking for the making of new Nordic and Baltic guidelines as well. Most problematic: it undermines trust in health authorities.
Based on allegedly limited evidence linking dietary patterns high in UPF to obesity outcomes (other outcomes also associated with UPF were ignored), the USDG 2025-2030 report made no recommendation on UPF intake. Agree? Sir Bradford Hill likely wouldn’t. nesr.usda.gov/sites/default/…
Boycott businesses that don’t take cash! This is the message I sent today to Blackbird Bakery south London @Blackbird_05 👇 Hello Can you please reconsider your ‘no cash’ policy? My bank card has been blocked because of fraud on my account. I am relying on cash until my…
A tax for unhealthy UPF, not just a sugar tax
A little reminder of the most-used (I believe) mnemonic- "SCST ABCDE" S- Strength of association C- Consistency S- Specificity (Most difficult) T- Temporality (Most important) A-Analogy B- Biological Plausibility C-Coherence D- Dose/Response relationship E - Experimental evidence

Just to clarify: the family farm tax will make some people on less than the minimum wage, pay a 20k a year tax for 10 years…. Only they obviously won’t be able to pay it, so they’ll sell up and it will be big city corporates who buy them. No ‘progressive’ should support this.
The core problem is ultra-processed food consumption yet: "Limiting red meat and following a high-fibre diet is proven to cut the risk of bowel cancer" (Eleanor Hayward, Health Editor of The Times). Such authority but this statement is simply false. thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/…
So it's not just about the weight-loss! @lowcarbGP "The research found that people who went on a lower-carbohydrate, high-protein diet significantly improved blood lipid results and reduced liver fat levels despite not losing significant weight." theepochtimes.com/health/high-pr…
Damning observation: The "expert" authors of this report--"scientists," as @andreaapetersen repeatedly calls them in the WSJ--apparently do not care enough to check the references supporting their recommendations to make sure they do. What else will they do in their lives that…

An important first step 🙏
A first-of-its-kind lawsuit against 11 UPF industries alleging they engineer their UPF products to be addictive with details on the actions taken to target children including internal memos, meetings & the research conducted to create addictive substances. forthepeople.com/blog/morgan-mo…
The US-led ultraprocessed food invasion continues: The chain joins a growing number of US restaurant chains planning UK expansion with Dave’s Hot Chicken making its UK debut this month and Chick-fil-A making a second attempt to launch nationwide next year. thecaterer.com/news/chuck-e-c…
Italy’s Trenitalia scored highly in terms of travel experience, while SBB is the most punctual operator in Europe. At the other end of the spectrum, Eurostar ranked lowest, with the study noting steep ticket prices and poor reliability. europe-data.com/2024/12/10/rai…
Important in the UK considering our cookies and cake culture. Protein needs are typically even higher among older adults with chronic illnesses because of their lower physiological reserves of protein..." @lowcarbGP
We eat an average of just 34 grams of unprocessed red meat per day in the US. That's just over 1 oz and far below the global average of 51 grams. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
