We need your help! GreenFest is happening on Saturday, October 9th from 9am-1pm in downtown Statesboro. We need volunteers to help with various tasks around GreenFest. Link in bio to sign up to volunteer (various shifts available)!


On September 8th Sustain Southern will be completing a waste audit of the Education Building and we need your help! We need volunteers to help collect and sort waste from the education building. To sign up visit our website (link in our bio). We are excited to see you out there!

The Campus Garden celebrated their spring harvest this year with a potluck picnic at Sweetheart Circle! Some dishes, such as brussel sprouts & collard greens, were made from the produce they grew themselves! The students are expecting even more produce to be ready very soon!

GS earned Gold LEED certification with the Biological Science building. This $34.2 million facility features indegenious plants, a 2,800ft greenhouse, solar panels for renewably sourced electricity, bioswales that clean rainwater & much more!

We presented our NEW logo & 16 projects that were funded by the Sustainability Fee Grant totalling $179,377! These projects cover a wide range of topics & aim to create more sustainable practices here at GS! The sustainability showcase will remain on display until May 10th

Bee populations have been facing a crisis known as Colony Collapse Disorder in which worker bees of a colony disappear, causing their system to collapse and the hive to fail. You can help the bee population! Try planting a bee garden, & choose chemical free fertilizers/pesticides

In 2019 the pedestrian was upgraded with new LED lights. The goal of this project was to provide increased light levels for the safety of our faculty, staff, & students and reduce energy cost. The LED upgrades from HID increased light levels and reduce energy cost by 33%!

The Sustainability Showcase reception will explore the FY21/22 grants funded by the Student Sustainability Fee. 3-5pm April 22nd, representatives from each grant will be at the Library to discuss their projects. The event will also be live-streamed via Facebook

Confetti & glitter commonly used for grad pics pollute our community. Instead go with the more sustainable option! Make your own biodegradable confetti by hole bunching leaves! Or choose a no-impact substance like flower petals, rice, or bird seed!

🌱 The campus garden is growing well! The students have finished planting crops for the spring, including strawberries, potatoes, peppers, lettuce, squash, and much more! They are excited for this year’s harvest and the Campus Garden's potluck! Follow the campus garden on IG!

When plastic materials are collected for recycling they are broken down into pellets/melted to be sold to a company that can reuse the material. Most recycling companies can only process a few types of plastic due to the way they break down. At GS we only recycle plastics #1 & #2

⚾️ There will be a Green Game Event at the baseball game against ULM on April 10. Fans will be encouraged to post pictures doing sustainable activities on social media for a chance to win some swag or for recognition on the FanCam. Volunteer at this event w/ link in bio.
