idk about humbling but I love this so much. I need this every day. Recontextualize my issues and tell me I'm not alone in the universe, thank you

Do you ever think about how many people are basically writing the same book with the same core vexations but from slightly different experiential vantages & using slightly different lexicons/progressions/forms/images, which all ultimately hit the same limit? Humbling

"Shift to the right" implies a change in ideological position. If that were the case, we would not have seen abortion rights enshrined, minimum wages raised, book ban politicians chastised. People's allegiance to the Democrats is what shifted.

I'm sorry but personally if I had an entire theory of the post-Dobbs electorate and Harris landslide that turned out to be a complete mirage, I would have a bit more humility and introspection before telling everyone else to fall in line to my theory of politics

This is getting lost in the frenzy of the news cycle, but this is the kind of apocalyptic climate scenario that maybe many in the west think is far into the future, but it’s closer than you’d think — for many around the world, it’s here.

🚨Air pollution in #Delhi is at extremely severe levels. – Monitors recorded pollution levels of 1,500. – Flight & train services disrupted. – Schools shut. – According to the WHO, air with AQI values above 300 are considered hazardous for health. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Harrowing report of the arrest of the surgeon Dr Adnan Al-Bursh in December 2023 leading to his death in May 2024, and the mental, physical and sexual abuse endured in prisons holding medical professionals. The violence after the October 7th atrocity is completely sickening.

"I've spent months investigating the life and unexplained death of a much-loved Gazan surgeon." ⏰ Watch @sparkomat's full report on YouTube now 👇youtube.com/watch?v=RlNHNA…

Bluesky is apparently deleting the accounts of Palestinians in Gaza under the guise of “spam.” Requests to correct this have so far gone unanswered.

tbh on bluesky it feels like people are overcorrecting for the worst things about twitter. its a frictionless fantasy world where outside of election stuff, bad things are happening in an ambient way "out there." you can spend hours on it without seeing anything about palestine

I will watch ANYTHING with Ronny Chieng

hulu's INTERIOR CHINATOWN is fun and ambitious! it's not as affecting as his book, but Charles Yu adapts it into a fairly delightful experience anyway. highly recommend! avclub.com/interior-china…

Even by Middle East standards, picking someone who was under ethics investigation into sex trafficking of minor, as your attorney general is a stretch

This framing—of the destruction of Palestine as a matter of no real concern to anyone without an ethnic stake in the matter—is so tiresome. Americans, who are overwhelmingly neither Arab nor Jewish, have paid for 70% of Israel's war on Gaza

This is all a big misunderstanding. Matt Gaetz only agreed to lead the Department of Justice because he thought it was the store for tween girls.

Wow, several BIG historical errors with what @ScottJenningsKY said here. Most of Obama’s deportations occurred at the border. ICE interior deportations of long-time residents peaked in 2009 and fell every year after. Total was ~1.3 million in 8 years and they DID cause backlash!

NEW: @ScottJenningsKY takes CNN panel to school by dropping some simple facts about deportations: “It’s overwhelmingly popular. Everybody is trying to make this controversial. This is not controversial. Presidents always deport people." "Barack Obama deported 3 million people.…

I try to stay away from media bashing, but JFC, any reporter talking about the Biden misstatement, when Trump actually, explicitly, and purposefully calls us garbage and worse every day of the week, is genuinely acting like a piece of shit.
