Thanks @AEAjournals for featuring our work on OB unit closures in the US! Headline result: While mothers—especially in rural areas—travel farther for care, they receive better care. @royer_heather @corey_d_white

Obstetric unit closures in the US have little to no impact on maternal and infant health outcomes, but they may lead women to deliver in higher-quality hospitals, say researchers @MonashUni and @EconomicsUcsb #Chart aeaweb.org/research/chart…

I will miss you all very much! It's not goodbye, it's see you later. @corey_d_white @rdahis @rmegal @yveszenou1 @PaulRaschky @VictoriaBaranov @marinambgg @SusanJMendez , @embeeward, JK & Mari

The Monash Econ department is delighted to have four amazing economists join us this next year! We look forward to your arrival. @MonashBusiness Recruiting is hard work, but it was fun meeting so many new economists working on important topics. The future is bright!

What a fantastic recruiting year we had! Monash Economics welcomes Lisa Botbol (Toulouse), Alexander Haas @ahaas_econ (Oxford), Santiago Hermo (Brown), and Kate Huang (Caltech) as our newest members. Great people and great economists all.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in Melb for the Monash HELP Workshop, and to @MonashBusiness for sponsoring the event. I’m coming away inspired, with new knowledge and a full heart! If you are abroad or in Oz, work in Health/Ed/Labor/Pub, and want to join next time, DM me!

Oh no!!!!!! Since relocating, I have found World Time Buddy to be quite helpful. worldtimebuddy.com

#EconTwitter #econjobmarket Job market candidates: Please triple-check the differences in time zones. It breaks my heart when a candidate is confused with the time differences and they show up late. First impressions matter a lot!

Thank you @ToddMorrisEcon for jumping on the program last minute and sharing your exciting new work! Hope to see you next time.

Congratulations @stef_fischer for putting together a great program. World-class applied research on display down under 🇦🇺💪

Thanks for coming @ash_craig! I really enjoyed your paper!

Thanks @stef_fischer for an amazing conference at @MonashBusiness It was great to meet and/or catch up with so many applied researchers doing extraordinary work with all kinds of admin data (+see Aussie wildlife!) Fun, perfectly organised, and I learned so much from you all.

JMCs: We have reached out to most of our shortlisted candidates and we have scheduled most interviews. Next weeks will be very busy for us! Exciting times ahead! We wish we had more slots. There are so many people working on exciting topics out there. #EconTwitter #econjobmarket

Applied Micro Economists of Melbourne: Our (rescheduled) 2nd Semester 2 meetup is tomorrow night. When: from 5:30 PM Where: Loop Roof Bar, Level 4 (3/23 Meyers Pl., near Parliament Station) All are welcome to join. Looks like it will be sunny! @dprbyrne @GauriotRomain

I am currently reviewing JM applications. It breaks my heart when a candidate is missing a LOR (or 3), especially when it is from their primary advisor. They have (likely) worked v hard over the past many years to get to this point.

#EconTwitter Check out JM candidate, @ZhongJiee! She has an impressive agenda including her JMP "Early Grade Retention Harms Adult Earnings". Website: jieezhong.com I had the pleasure of getting to know Jiee through @econmentoring this past year!
