CascadeCamp🏕️ THANK YOU Thread❤️‍🔥 I had some idea of what to expect, and my experience blew that forecast out of the water. The 15 hrs driving were beyond worth it. The vibes were immaculate. The land, the people, & the shared time with them have left an imprint on my life. 1/10

this is quite perceptive and insightful

most people's systems are unhealthy, so when they are exposed to something with goodness like jesus, or even something like landmark, scientology, ans est, they can become weirdly zealous and salesman and snake oily about it its the part of their systems still not smoothed over

basically, imo reading the bible requires stepping into a different linguistic and cultural context just as much as reading eg Buddhist scripture does. the approachability of modern translations belies this in a way inscrutable Pali translations do not

yeah i think all mysticism seeks a better relationship with what’s metaphysically real. more advanced forms of it tend to notice homologies between different symbol systems. the most advanced ones love the homologies for revealing archetypes as epiphenomena of relationships

i think if one understands christian mysticism, the principle of the Father (undifferentiated, unmanifest divine truth) can only be accessed through the aspect of consciousness represented by the mythic Christ -- but many spiritual traditions have some diagram of this circuitry

aliveness & emotions🔥 > exquisite aliveness awaits in every minute, every moment, every place. It is there in the bland 2-hour Zoom meeting, at the height of Friday rush hour traffic, in the chaotic, stressful, mundanity of everyday life.

It's been months since I've written a longer piece, and it's a 1500-word manifesto around emotions - on being drenched in aliveness - on embracing anger, terror, grief - on unfolding the beautiful worlds inside you - on noticing the raucous, exploding symphony of things

i feel such a kinship with people whose birthdays are close to mine. it’s been fun to see folks posting theirs here this week. found i share one with someone from CascadeCamp. 2 of my closest friends have birthdays within 8 days of me, and my grandfather’s is the day before. ☺️

the beauty inside this 1894 steinway upright. the privilege of getting to open up and look inside pianos everyday.

at night, minnie like to just sit and sleepily stare at me until i feed her. in the morning, it’s meow meow meow on my nightstand until i get out of bed.

very intriguing article by @JohnGoldmouth exploring the concept of blood through the lenses of Daoism & Christianity and its relationship with chi/spirit in its respective traditions. interesting application to OT sacrifices & then to Christ’s blood. ioannisgoldmouth.substack.com/p/the-magic-po…

If you're so smart why do you have to sound smart all the time

you absolutely cannot miss what is meant for you, no matter what you do. so you can’t worry that you’ve made the wrong choices. you can’t!

i love this teaching philosophy

fourth, I learned there's a solid through-line to the way I teach, which I discovered over time and trial. and it differentiates me enormously from most teachers I've had: I teach from the inside out. in response to phenomena of (flawed?) execution, I prompt interior reflection

love this!

you think you're looking at REALITY but you're looking at a compressed JPEG your brain made to help you navigate chaos

love this wise advice whether on OR off line

to go on a tangent: ime this site works best if somehow u can forget about large number or small number or big account or small account, and just focus on how it feels to share urself, how it feels to connect with different people, how u are drawn to play and with who

building products is all about tradeoffs. wholeheartedly recommend coming up with a set of principles that you can refer to whenever something is in doubt and you need criteria to evaluate a decision. these were the principles we came up with at sublime
