So - just to underline - the proposed director of national intelligence for the US, Tulsi Gabbard, is so pro-Putin that she has been described as a Russian agent on Russian TV.

The person who published the conspiratorial tweet below on the day that Russia launched its unprovoked, full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the largest and most devastating war on European soil in 80 years was just nominated to be the US director of national intelligence.

This war and suffering could have easily been avoided if Biden Admin/NATO had simply acknowledged Russia’s legitimate security concerns regarding Ukraine’s becoming a member of NATO, which would mean US/NATO forces right on Russia’s border

Have to say though, as poor a business proposition it’s been to him, the influence buying Twitter has bought Musk is priceless. A remarkably astute move. At least for now.

I suppose dust might be ‘fundamentally political,’ but I wonder how often intellectuals these days realize something is *not* fundamentally political

I know a librarian who once was assigned to help some left-wing activists on a research project, and she was struck by how unnecessarily hostile they were. They didn't understand it's her job to help them. They seemed to think she was trying to hide things.

The claim that "left/libs look for any reason to reject someone and righties look for any reason to accept someone" kind of rings true tbh I get it, I dont suffer fools very well myself, but it is kinda like this fr

Can't believe this tweet is over nine years old. Truly, one of the wisest things ever tweeted. It gets proven true time and time again.

Very fascinating that the defense of Trump’s policies by his supporters is “he won’t actually do what he said he’s gonna do” I sure hope you guys are right lol

The reaction here to Amsterdam offers the best argument I have yet seen for not getting your news from Twitter (if any were needed). People essentially just making up their own version to satisfy their own political leanings.

most people now have an information diet algorithmically designed to inspire outrage, fear, and hate (gotta keep those eyes glued to the screens!!!) and this platform has become the crown jewel of exactly that

the sad part about all of this is that outside of the uber-wealthy, no one will have their lives improved by this election. conservatives will feel reprieve at getting to "own the libs", but that will fade away because they were never the source of their problems.

A usually reliable source tells me that the North Korean soldiers who have deployed to Russia have never had unfettered access to the internet before. As a result, they are gorging on pornography.

Automatically disbelieving authorities isn't independent-mindedness. It's just conformism with the sign bit flipped.

Zionism is a national movement, remarkably similar to other national movements despite its peculiarities. Like the other ones, it has harbored both good and evil, both crimes and virtue, both wars and culture, both negation of life and affirmation of it.

As someone who was actually raised Catholic and did mass readings these boys are hoping the priest does a quick homily so they can go home to their PlayStation.

These boys don't give a rat's ass about cartoon dolls.
