Wow, Dst is currently right around -358 nT. This is a VERY intense and strong geomagnetic storm - one of the strongest in the past twenty years. Maybe we will surpass the May event, we will see. If that happens, we are going back before the 21st century to see similar levels.

BACK ON AURORA WATCH! This one has mid-latitude potential! The high estimated speed of this event has me excited, as that helps drive things southward. Now we cross our fingers for a good magnetic field alignment!

A fast CME erupted from the Sun the evening of 8 Oct and is likely to arrive at Earth on 10 Oct. This CME has been analyzed and there is potential to reach G4 levels upon arrival and throughout CME passage. Visit swpc.noaa.gov/news/g4-severe… for the full story.

Hi, it's me. - V1

Sounding a little more like yourself, #Voyager1. For the first time since November, Voyager 1 is returning useable data about the health and status of its onboard engineering systems. Next step: Enable the spacecraft to begin returning science data again: go.nasa.gov/49PQ6bh

See our new paper on observations of drifting substorm particle injections on initiation and intensification of pulsating aurora: frontiersin.org/articles/10.33… Grad student John Momberg came up with really creative ways to visualize this complex process!

In a time when it’s so easy to make up numbers for a good story, it’s great to have a refresh on fundamentals for analysis and uncertainty. Thank you @LiemohnSpace for putting this together
