I must admit to feeling a tad guilty. All drilled up and able to enjoy the local ploughing match with my dad. 70 tractors and a few horses in fantastic conditions overlooking Montrose. Then off to the beach with the team. 3 generations of happy MacLeods!!

18mm of rain here this morning, however, you wouldn’t have known come the afternoon with a trip to a blustery Lunan Bay. It’s only 15 minutes from home and a great place in all weather!!

Many thanks to @SellarsAgricul1 & @CLAAS_UK for our 4 day demo of the 960TT. A chance to try it across our cultivation fleet on different soils and alternative establishment methods. An impressive and clever concept and very different to our old Xerion.

That’s us done, a prolonged and strange harvest heavily influenced by the floods 11 months ago and a spring that didn’t start until May YIELDS WOSR - Good WO- Good WW - Please don’t ask WB - Worse than above Spring Oats/Barley - Outstanding, but not sure how we managed it 🤔

Unfortunately it’s becoming the norm to begin our Autumn cultivations with a bulldozer!!

Preparing for oilseed rape establishment with the @Weaving_Mach stubble rake having been unable to bale the barley straw this year ⛈️ 🌧️ 😡 . Aiming to strip drill @LGSeedsUK Aurelia next week for @UnitedOilseeds 🤞

Delighted to help @SentryLtd celebrate its 50th year as a company the last 25 of which employee owned. Great to catch up with old colleagues and friends and reminisce on the six years I spent with this great company cutting my teeth in farm management.

I would like to think that the birds are enjoying a plentiful supply of earth 🪱 however I think the plentiful supply of overwintered 🥔 are proving more enticing 🤬

My amazing wife Catherine is fundraising for Breast Cancer Now. Her Cancer has returned for the third time so she’s set out to walk 100 miles in October for charity and to help her recover from her treatment. Thanks for your support justgiving.com/page/catherine…

It’s when the flood waters retreat that reality really kicks in.

My morning started at 3.45am rescuing these chaps. I then went to our main yard to watch the flooding come in. 2nd time in 10 months that we’ve been completely under water.

116mm of rain over the weekend didn’t persuade me to hide in the office. Got the wee digger out instead to alleviate flooding on some rape ground. Unfortunately we still have 40 acres of potatoes under water. Might need the big digger for that !!
