Lovely to have the redwings back on the island for the winter, the Sandwick fields were full of them today.

Voles are in very short supply on the Isle of Lewis, so this hen harrier was hunting snipe at Loch Stiapabhat this morning. I never witnessed a catch, but it seemed to have a full crop. #outerhebrides @robyn_hebrides @HebridesBirds

Brent geese, little stint and scaup at Bragar today, the latter present since at least a week. @HebridesBirds #OuterHebrides

First flock of redwing circling over the house today, and this group of whooper swans passing by on the way south. Yep, I think so too

Seized the opportunity of the mid-day Ashley lull to visit Bragar for this month's WeBS. Wigeon numbers are increasing, but the best bird today was this unexpected scaup. @HebridesBirds #outerhebrides #bragar

Lovely example of an utterly misguided project. Next we'll learn that it won't actually create all them local jobs. welovestornoway.com/index.php/arti…

An escapee (I assume) barnacle goose is having the time of its life with the feral greylags at Flachsee.

Back in Switzerland, and Flachsee had two rather sleepy spoonbills.

A lesson here for all dog owners

Here we go again! 2 dogs on Goodwick Bay beach, Pembrokeshire @PembsCoast chasing threatened shorebirds Curlew, Ringed Plover, Turnstones. I love #dogs but dogowners need to understand chasing these birds puts their very survival at risk. We urgently need #spaceforshorebirds

Birding at Bragar today. One is the undisputed king of the Bragar machair. The other is a white-tailed eagle.

Doesn't change the fact it's broken, but after reading @mrjamesob book, at least there's an understanding how we got there. Mending it, now there's a challenge. penguin.co.uk/books/457804/h…

Bar-tailed godwit at Bragar this early afternoon. Not a terribly unusual sighting, but for us, godwits just have that special something.
