Gritty win by the #Gophers tonight. Complete domination turned into a gutsy effort by Bemidji. Envious of those making the trip up on Saturday. Beautiful drive, nice town, and great rink. A beer and cheeseburger kind of night.

Apparently the Big Ten Plus Wisconsin announcers didn't quite get all their mics shut off at the end of the first period. But at least we know one of the guys's girlfriend is out getting snacks at trader Joe's for when he's going to get high later.

I’m not sure this is as big a threat to American players as it’s made out to be. Canada will respond in some way. Also, college hockey needs to expand, and expand beyond the usual territories. The talent now heavily outweighs the opportunities.

Lot of good points here from @HockeyThinkTank — one more is that players entering college are going to be older. It’s going to take special players to thrive at 18 and many players are going to be asked to play that extra year of junior they might not have done in the past.

I heeded @evegoe advice on the GPLPodcast this week and parked at the Blue Door Pub to avoid campus traffic. Then rented one of those electric scooters to get into campus, and I’ll say, riding around campus as a 40 something on a scooter was quite fun.

I can’t get down to campus until after 5, and if I’m reading this correctly, chances are good I will miss the 1st period. With the increase in housing, light rail, conflicting events, poorly planned parking, and no interest in traffic control police, Dinkytown is the worst.

Should clarify, balance implies that each set of forwards and D carry equal weight. The team two years ago was deep, but I’m not sure they were balanced. Small sample size here so far, but the Gophers have basically sustained an always on pressure in their 4 games.

Watching the first two series, the Gophers are not deep, they’re balanced. Ton of faith up and down the line up to score in a meaningful way. Wood always has the puck on his stick, and is an elite passer. Ziemer looks great. Excited to see the team in person next week. Rah!
