Headcount is a terrible metric for measuring the performance or potential of a startup. Revenue per employee is far more insightful.

Serious question Why do the Greens go into election after election with a socialist clown show manifesto, win next to no seats and keep coming back with largely unchanged policies? #UKElection2024

Building a company and looking for a technical co-founder? Don't pitch me the idea, pitch me you. Founder > idea. Why should I spend the next 7-10 years following you in to probably the hardest thing either of us will ever do?

Is it just me or is there a shitload of Americans in Dublin? I swear 1 in 3 people I’ve come across today are from the US.

I'd go one step further and say that if there was a security that contained all startups that implemented k8s from day 1 I would short it with my life savings.

You should never trust a CTO or tech lead that advocates for an early-stage company to implement k8s (especially self-managed) from day 1. Startups win with speed. Kubernetes destroys your ability to move fast. Solve for scalability when you have scalability problems.

Got aspirations of being a hand model? Want to signal to everyone that you don't know what you're doing? Then you should try... Gym gloves

Jailbreaking is a fascinating problem to solve in relation to LLMs. You can't deny that some of the prompts are hilarious though...

Facebook marketplace is basically unusable now. Selling some house stuff and of the 100+ messages I've received at least 95% are obviously scammers.

Startup CTO with an engineering team of > 10 that spends a majority of their time writing code 🚩🚩🚩

Are there any examples of a startup building the first version of their product with an offshore agency and going on to succeed? I mean venture scale success.

Further to this - you'll find you get to a point where you get excited about constructively negative feedback. If someone is willing to take the time and effort to explain why your product is off the mark, it generally means they care about the problem and want it fixed.

First-time product builders are afraid of negative feedback. Second-time product builders are afraid of a lack of feedback.

If you find yourself using Tailwind and thinking "this is dumb, I have to apply the same classes everywhere" then you're not using components correctly. Component composition + utility classes makes frontend actually enjoyable.

If you’re an adult with disposable income, a regular YouTube user and you’re not paying for YouTube premium Then you might just like money more than you like yourself.

Shadcn/ui and Tailwind have made me enjoy doing frontend again. Something I didn’t think was possible.

Lost track of the number of times we heard this from our customers at rebank. For multi-entity companies, US accountants were doing a 10th of the work, doing it very badly, and charging 3-5 times as much as the ops entity accountants in the UK.

When your accounting firm is so bad you actually want to sue them... 🤡 Can't calculate COGS correctly, months late on books, sending the cap table to normal employees, etc... this is actually a nightmare. Help. Someone find me a new one once this nightmare is over.

There is nothing virtuous in being a high maintenance, litigious employee who threatens their employer with legal action if they don't publicly support their cause-of-the-day. It's hard not to admire what @brian_armstrong did here re "mission-focussed hiring".

I’m increasingly convinced that the main differentiator between successful and unsuccessful founders is what they choose NOT to spend time on.

Elected official’s account posting with comments disabled. Cowards.

The odds are increasingly stacked against young Londoners. That’s why I'll be focusing on: ✔️ Providing free meals for all state primary school children ✔️ Working to create jobs and apprenticeships ✔️ Standing up for renters’ rights ✔️ Keeping the daily commute affordable
