The current Director of Education & Force Education Officer is ACP IBIDAPO OLUDARE OLUBIYI, psc. His Vision is to transform the Police Education Unit, with improved Educational service delivery and staff welfare.
The Directorate of Police Education is headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police appointed by the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D.
The Mustard seed of 1986 has now grown in leaps and bounds with 134 Police Children Schools and 27 Secondary schools across the nation.
Before then, only one Police Children Schools existed. That was Police Children School, Port-Harcourt, which was run by the Rivers State Command as a welfare programme for children and wards of Police officers and men serving in Rivers State
The Directorate of Police Education was established in 1986 primarily as a welfare scheme to cater for the educational needs of children of Police Officers and men whose education had suffered as a result of incessant transfers of their parents.
