After the Provincial Public Health Order is lifted at the end of February, masks will continue to be required to access indoor City-operated facilities & services, such as City Hall & Leisure Centres, & while traveling on @stoontransit ➡️ More info at saskatoon.ca/covid-19.

Dr. Haissam Haddad, the provincial head of medicine, said the current strain in departments is unlike what he's seen before. He says most patients do not have COVID-19. But continued case rates are pushing strained system to its limit. They already have an extra medicine service

February 2022 is shaping up to be one of the deadliest months of the COVID-19 pandemic for Saskatchewan. More than 60 deaths reported in the first 12 days and hospitalizations still at a record peak. #skpoli thestarphoenix.com/news/saskatche…

1/7 Lifting mask mandates and other public health measures while so few children are vaccinated puts them disproportionately at risk. Mask-wearing reduces the risk of indoor transmission, especially in schools and other group settings. @AdrianaLaGrange canada.ca/en/public-heal…

Everyone keeps using the wrong word. They aren’t restrictions they’re protections.

That's one way to get case numbers down. Unfortunately, this is the worst possible way. It's the public health equivalent of gouging your eyes out because you don't want to see bad news. Please reconsider this decision, @PremierScottMoe

In Sask. hospitals, teams are tough but tired. How our record COVID-19 hospitalizations are straining staffing, sparking outbreaks and demanding more from health care workers nearly two years into this. Huge thanks to @SamHaddad17 and @drjondean #skpoli thestarphoenix.com/news/saskatche…

Vaccination does reduce the risk of symptomatic infection, and also the risk of transmission. This is why outbreaks in the Omicron wave much smaller than in pre-vaccination waves. We need our leaders to be better informed as they make decisions that affect us all.

Today, trucker rallies are being held at many locations across the country, including on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and in various communities in Saskatchewan. Here is my message to Saskatchewan and Canadian truckers:

Saskatchewan’s most famous virologist explains how vaccines significantly reduce transmission. Omicron is likely not the last variant. Vaccine mandates are important public health measures that protect society and our health care system.

The primary purpose of vaccines is to prevent disease. The vaccines do this. The vaccines don’t prevent transmission entirely but they do significantly reduce it. With a booster, VE against infection is approaching 70%. So this is entirely wrong.

Friendly reminder we do not know at this time what the nature of this problem was. There is always a delay between deaths and reporting, though this one seems unusually long This does, though, mean we tragically have not gone weeks without fatalities as Premier has touted

Eight COVID-19-related deaths today and Dr. Shahab as newsers today to talk about numbers. No Merriman. No Moe. Both have been touting no deaths in the past two weeks. Hospitalizations, up to 215.

SHA also confirms that they are putting together plans to deal with surging hospitalizations and that could include canceling surgeries again in specific areas.

Absolutely everyone—but mostly our Premier and Health Min—needs to read this letter penned by our province’s Medical Health Officers. This time, maybe we can adopt ALL the measures in a timely way instead of piecemeal weeks too late. media.campaigner.com/media/57/57988… #COVID19Sk #SkPoli
