Great technical breakdown of Audius by Audius CTO, @raymondjacobson "Audius exists today as a one-of-a-kind foundational layer for music compute…Audius pioneers “ground truth” for how music is catalogued online…Because of this, your audius track ID has tangible utility. It…

I’ve called Audius a “Layer 1 for Music” in a few different contexts, so let’s dig into what I think this means today and more importantly what I think it should imply about the future of internet music 👇 (0/n)

A while back, we talked about *why* the Audius network is decentralized, and why that matters. Today we want to unpack how that’s achieved - how does Audius serve millions of users every month in a fully decentralized way? 🧵⬇️

The mission of Audius is simple: to put creators in control. But how do we do that? In short: by being decentralized, controlled and operated by the community. If you rely on Audius, you are not subject to platform risk. Let’s unpack this 👇🧵

This is a massive deal! 🔥There have been people building in web3 music forever - but they never have the network, and the patience to get into the right rooms and to ACTUALLY get the deals in place that will allow Web3 music to move forward. Congrats to the whole @audius team!

Respect. Incredible dedication.

In 1997, Julia Hill climbed a 200-foot 1000-year-old Californian redwood tree and did not come down for 738 days to prevent Pacific Lumber Company loggers from cutting it down. She ultimately reached an agreement with the company to spare the tree and a 200-foot buffer zone…

People ask me all the time "why is @audius decentralized" This is why.

The difference in Audius is that no company / group of shareholders control this common means of distribution. The people who use it do. You. The situation of Myspace, Bandcamp, Soundcloud etc. can’t happen on Audius. (3/5)
