New episode is up now. A Banned Book Club episode about Gender Queer by Maya Kobabe. Not my favorite banned book, but an important story and I love that the author showed great courage in sharing eir journey. Go listen on your favorite podcast platform now.
Dear @nytimes Strands creators. I came all the way back to this app I haven’t used in months to tell you that cheetahs don’t roar. Do better.
Finally reading John Adams by David McCullough. He is one my favorite authors of all time and a master at nonfiction writing. I am ashamed it took me this long to read this.
I’m taking a break from my sporadic book twittering to say I have never liked Drake and always thought he was just an actor acting like a rapper. Anyone that knows me personally can attest to this. This past week has been delightful.
I was excited for the solar eclipse until I remembered we need to invade the fire nation that day.
An Immense World by Ed Yong is truly one of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read. I have enjoyed every word of it. If you like animals and/or science, you must check it out. Give it the Pulitzer. Give it Best Picture and Album of the Year.
Dune Part 2 was pretty great. I barely go to the movies once a year. This was more than worth it and I may go see it again.
Resident Alien is a wonderful show. Alan Tudyk is showing he’s more than comic relief and great voice actor. I wish I started watching this sooner.
My daughter has been picking up her books and reading them on her own. Sounding out new words and everything….even when she’s supposed to be in bed. I’ve never been more proud of her breaking a rule before. ❤️
I’ve been reading Caste by Isabel Wilkerson and An Immense World by Ed Yong. Two vastly different non-fiction books, both truly incredible reads.
The 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, EXCEPT as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States”. The devil is in the details
A sweeping investigation into prison labor tied hundreds of millions of dollars to hundreds of popular foods brands. Prisoners are largely uncompensated and are often excluded from protections. “You can’t call it anything else. It’s just slavery.” apnews.com/article/prison…

Happy New Year. And to any Haitian followers, Happy Independence Day/Soup Joumou Day.
I swear fragrance companies just make stuff up. It smells like Danish cantaloupe, Belarusian cinnamon, and the best exotic marigold hotel.
Twitter friends, I’ve been struggling through a book these past few weeks. I was really excited about it. It’s about elephants and I find them fascinating. I’m not enjoying the book though. I won’t name it here. Hopefully my next choice is more fun and I can share it with you all
Sorry to non-Apple users. I read this on Apple News. If you try The Atlantics site, you have to sign in. The story was fascinating though. Please read if you like spy stories. The Most Consequential Act of Sabotage in Modern Times - The Atlantic apple.news/AMjgtEJQTRAC-w…
Everyone get outside late at night some in the next week. The Geminids meteor shower is basically visible from anywhere. The skies are super clear in Mass tonight so get out and watch the sky to the east. I just did for like 4 minutes and saw a bunch.
