I am sincerely honored to have served on ALA's jury for the 2023 Schneider Family Book Award. This award recognizes children's and YA books that best represent the artistic expression of the disability experience. A big shout out to the other wonderful members of the 2023 jury!
I am incredibly honored to have been selected as @yalsa's Member of the Month for January. Here is a link: ala.org/yalsa/https%3A…
Nothing in my 25 years of librarianship has been more meaningful for me than helping to create two shelves to honor the memory of @RMSortn's long time library assistant Carol Husband. She worked for 20 years in the library, and her legacy will live on through these donated books.
Thanks to fellow taskforce member Amy for sending these photos from @yalsa's Symposium. It has been two weeks since the conference, & I am still thinking about all of the ideas and concepts I encountered in sessions and author panels. Still inspired....#yalsa22

It was an honor to moderate the opening panel for the @yalsa Symposium in Baltimore on Friday. Dani Pendergast, Leigh Bardugo, & Alex Aster + Lamar Giles' written responses made for a lively and insightful discussion. It was wonderful to see so many librarians in attendance!
Today’s author visit with @DustiBowling was great! Our 6th graders were especially interested in the dangerous animals found in Arizona! @RMSortn
Our 5th and 6th grade students are loving our author visit with @DustiBowling!
Thank you for having me, Fargo and Knoxville!! I loved visiting so many awesome schools!
We had a great morning today at @RMSortn with author @DustiBowling Thanks to the RMS PTSA for providing refreshments at the autograph parties and to Dusti Bowling for such a wonderful presentation. She will be presenting to 5th and 6th graders on Wednesday.
I know the UT Vols are playing Georgia on Saturday, but I would rather be at the @yalsa Symposium listening to A.S. King at the MAE Luncheon and then touring the famous Enoch Pratt Library in the evening. #YALSA22
Saturday is a big day at the @yalsa Symposium. I will be introducing the four authors (Jas Hammonds, Vincent Tirado, Camille Gomera-Tavarez, and Francesca Padilla) as well as the moderator Kyrie McCauley for the William C. Morris panel. #YALSA22
I can't wait until Friday! It is the start of the @yalsa Symposium in Baltimore. I will be moderating the opening panel with @LBardugo, @LRGiles, Dani Pendergast, Alex Aster, and Aiden Thomas. #yalsa22
Tomorrow and Wednesday are the big days!! Author @DustiBowling will be at Robertsville Middle School @RMSortn Special thanks to the RMS PTSA for providing refreshments at the autograph parties. Fluffy can't wait to have his books signed!
Fluffy and I are in this month's School Library Journal @sljournal in an article about children's picture books. Thanks to Margaret Kingsbury for asking me to contribute my thoughts on the disability experience for children.
Fluffy has been rereading all of @DustiBowling 's books to prepare for her presentations at @RMSortn on October 31 and November 2. A student asked him about his favorite novel by Dusti Bowling. He replied "I love them all. They are better than bacon!"
The Teens Top Ten list has been announced. Thank you to all that voted! You can view the list here: ala.org/yalsa/teenstop… Share your favorite titles with #yalsaTTT
We had a great time at the 2022 Southern Festival of Books in Nashville today--what a pleasure it was to hear authors like @CameronSharonE, Malinda Lo, Andrew Maraniss @trublu24, Alex Aster, LM Elliott, and many others.
Don't miss the authors participating in the Symposium Author Panel: In the Shadow of Poe: Dark Fantasy and Mystery! Authors Alex Aster, Leigh Bardugo, Lamar Giles, Aiden Thomas and Illustrator Dani Pendergast will discuss their latest YA novels. ala.org/yalsa/particip…
