Listening to the final @savethefilmpro tonight. Two brilliant presenters in @FrancineFilm and Antonia Quirke passionate about film but knowledgeable & curious. Absolute travesty @BBCRadio4 has cancelled it.
Just listened to the last #TheFilmProgramme. Hosts with a passion for film, simply talking to filmmakers. Avoiding pointless promo questions, guests could really talk about their work. No other channel will recreate this, only the BBC could have. Makes no sense to cancel it.
Thanks for doing it. Before you go: did we ever find out what rationale lay behind the decision?

Ah man, I just caught up with the Film Programme’s last few episodes- including the final ep- and I’ll say it again… What a loss. Thanks for being so brilliant. 😢
Devastated & shocked to see The Film Programme axed from @BBCRadio4 Listened every week for 14 years. Terrific programme, which I was even a part of a few times. First @BBCFilm2018, now this! Film programmes are absolutely vital, please don’t axe any more! #TheFilmProgramme 🎞🎟
So sad to hear the last @savethefilmpro on Radio 4. A loss to the conversation and celebration of film. What we have left is Friday coverage on BBC Radio that is little more than a celebration of the reviewer and his host, rather than a celebration of film. A grim time.
