What a privilege it is to be a second generation immigrant. We get to care about finding purpose, fulfillment, meaning. Our parents came here and figured out how to survive. The GOAT "Zero to One" story.

As you scale, you add people with low tolerance for risk, but high tolerance for process. Left unchecked, the "process people" will overwhelm the "risk people". Adding process is natural, taking risk is not. You need to push and support the taking of calculated risks.

Why do hotels not have check-in kiosks? Waiting in line at a hotel just to get to your room makes no sense, seems like a kiosk could easily do it. Airlines switched almost entirely to kiosks for check-in ~15 years ago, why haven't hotels?

M&A: be VERY clear if an acquisition is product/tech (eg: Android) or business (eg: Doubleclick). Product/tech acq: the team MUST be amazing. biz secondary. Business acq: the business MUST be amazing. team secondary. Crazy how often acquirers confuse the two and focus wrongly.
