Our @mrc_hgu @EdinUni_IGC PhD program is open for applications. Excellent human genetics projects in a friendly, #interdisciplinary environment. We have a project for those keen on molecular mechanisms through which #epigenetics causes human disease: institute-genetics-cancer.ed.ac.uk/igc-graduate-r…

Join us today (DM for zoom link)👇! #Genetics #FTD #Dementia

🚨Tomorrow! - Join our @DEMONNetworkUK #Genetics and #Omics meeting on THURSDAY 14th November at 2.30 PM (UK Time). Delighted to have Claudia Manzoni as invited speaker – “GWAS reveals a potential role for the MAPT, MOBP, and APOE loci in sporadic frontotemporal #dementia”. #FTD

My first-author paper is out today @NatureComms ! We investigated how oligodendrocytes produce myelin. Using volume EM, we characterized oligodendroglial ER (magenta) in developing myelin and explored nonvesicular lipid transport involved. #lipidtime doi.org/10.1038/s41467… (1/n)

Just back from a short trip to examine a PhD at the University of Murcia in Spain. Congratulations to Dr Alicia Gomez for her brilliant PhD viva and to her supervisor @juanBotiaBlaya! 👏🎉

🎉 Thrilled to share our work in @NatureComms! We found centenarians have (slightly) fewer harmful genetic variants - suggesting depletion of damaging mutations contributes to exceptional longevity. Incredible collaboration with @NirBarzilaiMD, @ZhengdongZhang Sofiya Milman…

A common misconception about genomics and genetics is that the genome determines everything in biology. But biology is not about DNA alone! Phenotypes, or traits, are a result of complex interactions that involve the genome in addition to social and environmental influences.
