ESOL, I'll have you know, is blooming brilliant. You know, just in case you were wrong.

Literally nothing here about race, migration or even religion really, and there are already a couple of nasty comments. The state of some people.

I arrived to the UK 🇬🇧 17 year ago today at back of refrigerator lorry 🚛. A lot has happened in those years, challenges, opportunities with achievements and sacrifices. However, the cruelty and hostility towards refugees have increased. At the time they’re were around 30/40…

The best formative assessment processes often leave no written evidence; just a smarter decision by the teacher about what to do next...

Hopefully this remains just a proposal, but even so, it is a fine example of "management types entirely missing the point." theguardian.com/education/2024…

"hello, I drive to work and spend hundreds of pounds every year just to sit in a traffic jam and beep my horn in an aggressive attempt to offset the fundamental misery and selfishness of car ownership."

I'm used to random fascists appearing in "for you" these days thanks to that noxious fart Musk, but now I've got worthless scum like @gbnews appearing on my Following feed.

#edtech folks and teachers generally, looking for recommendations on new / emerging digital tools? Got me a few ideas already but, er, asking for a friend....

I'm so proud of my Dad skills. I just recognised three whole Taylor Swift songs.

This was my "long way round" commute for many years, and was a wonderful therapeutic ride after (frequent) stressful days.

Earlier this week, we introduced you to Satwant, the 75 year old who discovered the joys of cycling later in life. This video shows the beautiful Spen Valley Greenway in all it's glory, it's clear why Satwant and the Bolton Road Community Cycling Club enjoy the Route so much.

Yeah AI is great, it's going to save education and art and life and everything woo! It's also going to generate this kind of nonsense. (Arguably the best Narnia book, it does indeed feature a castle, some people and literally nothing else in this poster.)

I've had three run-ins with ofsted in the last two years, most recently this week. Surprised to find that not only was the inspector quite nice, he also actually appeared to know what he was looking at and moderated his language for ESOL learners.

And grammar prescriptivists (quite possibly the same people) getting all in a tizzy because "there are".

Is there anything we can do to make the Atlantic a bit wider?

Ah, the vultures are circling. #ofsted

Just done a little bit of housekeeping in preparation for The Observation in a week or so. Quite surprised at myself to find that I had very little to do.
