Many data points to reflect on in our new @AmPress-@APNORC survey on how Americans view election news. If you follow our work or that of @TrustingNews, @wearehearken @soljourno, @AP, @StartsWithUs, or many others, you might be interested in e.g. this one.

🛡️About half of adults say they are extremely or very concerned about news organizations reporting inaccurate information (53%). Almost as many worry news outlets will report unverified information (47%) or focus too much on divisions or controversies (48%). 4/7

Questions Kevin and I nerd out on: How might we, as local journalists, ensure the 👉culture of democracy👈 in the way we embed community engagement and feedback loops in our coverage practices both during, and well beyond, this election year?

Civic discourse doesn’t end at the ballot box. Here’s why you should plan ahead. New @AmPress with @sammyragland americanpressinstitute.org/civic-discours…

So thrilled for @annieisi and the rest of the @NatPress team for such a stellar cohort of fellows. Looking forward to following along and championing this group for years to come.

The National Press Foundation is excited to welcome 20 journalists to its 2024 Widening the Pipeline Fellowship, designed to support journalists of color staying in – and leading – the newsrooms of tomorrow. Congratulations! nationalpress.org/newsfeed/npf-s…

Friends, please help Nisha. She worked at @AmPress last summer doing great work on the API Inclusion Index as an intern for @LDeshan

For those in academia (journalism and mass communication): Do you all have job market materials like research, teaching, and diversity statements I could look at? Please DM me and help out a friend?! Forever grateful 🙏 #AcademicTwitter

This is such useful data for folks applying for #journalism grants and folks awarding them. Take this to your meetings. Applicants, share it with the Program Officer. Program Officers, share it with your Boards. Thanks for the data @JenniferPreston #ONA23

A Brief summary of my presentation at #ONA23. The culture of your newsroom likely mirrors your engagement and coverage of communities. If it’s bad, yes work on it, but it will take time and self reflection. And whatever your solution, build it into your daily infrastructure.

🚨Y’all already know🚨 I’ll be teaching you two new ways to listen while sharing my ABCs of trauma-informed leadership: 👉 Always be caring 👉 Always be coaching 👉 Always be connecting #ona23

Journo students, something I wish I was told when I started — A beat is built one story at a time. Don’t stress if you can’t wrap your arms around the whole thing on Day 1. Your knowledge, sourcing and body of coverage will grow each time you report. It takes time. Breathe. ❤️

We’re not “saving the news business.” We’re making sure local communities can still get the critical civic information they need to navigate their day to day lives. @LocalMediaAssoc
