Never a bad time to join the team! Some times better than others, though

Maybe the best thing I did for my mental health this year was to start listening to the Grateful Dead for hours on end each week

Overturn Citizens United. Billionaires cannot continue to buy elections in this country.

LGTBQ issues don't hurt Dems, the perception that Dems care a lot more about LGBTQ issues than kitchen table issues hurts Dems. We don't need to stop fighting for the LGBTQ community, we need to start fighting for higher wages for everyone and lower costs for everything

Governor Andy Beshear, in a Trump +30 state, gives advice to Democrats: Do not throw LGBTQ+ people under the bus, it will not work. His advice to dems: Lead on your values. This man ran on a fully inclusive campaign in 2023 and won. He received the same kind of ads Harris did.

🚨Elon Musk's support for Trump in the 2024 elections has brought his influence to new heights. With a soaring net worth—boosted by a $15B increase from Tesla's stock surge post-election—Musk's reach goes far beyond tech. fortune.com/2024/11/06/elo…

Today is the Biden-imposed deadline for Israel to allow a "surge" of humanitarian aid into Gaza are face suspension of US military aid. But Israel has utterly "failed" to meet that demand. Instead, conditions "are worse than at any point" in the war, apnews.com/article/israel…

Weed might not be left coded anymore but we cannot let the right pretend it's their lane when that simply is not true. They already pulled this move with being anti-war, gotta nip this one in the bud early

What are the left-coded dude hobbies and obsessions? I can think of a million right-coded ones––weed and DMT and UFC and weightlifting and comedy and nutrition and weird supplements and paranormal shit––but what are the equivalents on the left?

One thing I think people miss about the fact that many deep red states approved economically progressive ballot measures is that a core difference between a ballot measure and a candidate is the ballot measure is going to do what it says.

🚨 The 2024 election was the most expensive in history—more than $20 billion in projected spending. Billionaires and special interests poured record-breaking sums into super PACs, allowing them to buy access and control the narrative on issues that affect us all.…

Harris so badly underperforming down ballot races and propositions, + Trump not beating his 2020 vote total, confirms this was not a massive red shift but a deeply unpopular incumbent and lackluster replacement who failed to galvanize her base

Harris loses Michigan and Wisconsin but Slotkin and Baldwin win their Senate races.

What’s misleading this graphic is Trump didn’t add votes. He had 3 million fewer than ‘20. What this doesn’t show you is Harris got 14 million fewer votes than Biden did in ‘20. Because no compelling case beyond “not that guy” was made to show up for her.

Overwhelming evidence is that this was, like '08, '20, or so many elections that came before, a wave election throwing the ruling party out & driven by economic unhappiness. It's what polls said going in and what exit polls reflected. Democrats didn't see it coming because...

People can viscerally feel that our economic and political system is broken. If Democrats keep refusing to label and fight the REAL enemy (the billionaire class), then Republicans will keep spreading the lie that immigrants and trans people are the enemy. And the lie will work.

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.

"Harris didn't fail us! America failed us!" Oh, ok. I'll keep that in mind next time we have to nominate which country the Democratic Party runs in.

Sam D'Arcangelo Reposted

One thing that needs to happen is for the left to be able to talk about this descriptive reality—that the most under-represented quadrant is economically populist/socially conservative—without it being instantly taken to mean We Need More Racism/Sexism/Homophobia/Transphobia

Economic left, socially right—basically the opposite of what Dems have been running on for the last decade.

Literally nobody has offered anybody any hope. The entire liberal playbook is currently to tell people things will not get any better and you are a child or extremist if you think they can

Might be time to accept that people are more energised by hate than hope.

This thinking is a great way to end up in the same place every election. Avoid it at all costs. Even if "how did voters fail us" were the right question, it still wouldn't offer single actionable answer. The only factors worth addressing are the ones we can control. Be serious.

CNN has a story titled “where the Harris campaign went wrong.” Nope, I won’t read it. Harris ran a great campaign. The story should be titled “where the American people went wrong.”
