In 2019 a hydro scheme was rejected for the Waitaha, one of NZ’s last remaining wild rivers, because of the significant impacts. Now the Govt is pushing it through the fast-track, overriding the Conservation Act on this near pristine conservation land.🧵

That's certainly not what Seymour was saying when he organised and led students from charter schools on the street, protesting against the policies of the last government!

If bird flu becomes transmissible between humans then we are facing another pandemic that will dwarf covid - it's death rate is believe to be between 50 - 60%. A sane civilisation would be focusing on what humans are doing to the planet - and not on gameshows and movies

Another strain of bird flu has been confirmed at a poultry farm in Cornwall, with a mass cull of the birds ordered by the government trib.al/gjgRFMx

Australia accused of ‘exporting climate destruction’ on tiny Pacific neighbours with massive gas expansion plans – Labor government ‘not acting in good faith’ when it stands on global stage and promotes its climate credentials, special envoy at Cop29 says theguardian.com/australia-news…

I’ll probably live as long as my mother (97) and it looks like my hope to have meaningful change before I die will be hitting 2c instead. I can’t understand this.

BREAKING: scientists hold back tears and shake their heads sadly as they explain utterly compromised COP29 climate conference was meant to be the last chance to organise rapid and deep emissions cuts for any chance of staying well below essentially unsurvivable 2°C 🧵

My Pākehā grandmother, who was a lifelong National voter until 2020, considers herself relatively moderate on Māori issues, and can't walk without crutches, waited on the roadside for three hours yesterday to welcome the Hīkoi into Paraparaumu and support Toitū Te Tiriti :-)

This whole thread joins all the dots: impressive work♥️

for new zealand's oligarchy, any māori oversight in government decision making is bad. they're going to try stop you from polluting waterways, digging up the ocean floor for minerals, or selling mining licenses for $1 a year, and they have mechanisms to potentially stop you

Like I said, terrifying to be black in this country. Especially with this is happening in areas of Columbus that we regularly hang out in 🤬
