Great conversation on supply and the barriers to creating more affordable housing. Thanks for including me, @NYFiscalPolicy

"Building and supply of housing in places like Long Island, Westchester and NYC will help relieve the pressure people feel every day — because we need more supply. The market is too tight, there is no vacancy, there is nowhere for anyone to go." - NYS HCR's @rvisnauskas

This is an incredibly transformative project. Thank you to all of our partners.

Today we kicked off construction at Golden Hill, a 164-unit #affordablehousing project in Kingston. The all-electric development will be a multi-generational community that serves families, seniors, and households in need of support services.

Governor Hochul said. “Let's be honest with New Yorkers: the only thing that will solve the housing affordability crisis is building hundreds of thousands of homes. New Yorkers are tired of waiting, and so am I.”

Tweet Image 1

Last year, I pushed for the most ambitious housing plan in the nation, but many of the loudest opposing voices said they believed in local control. New York City wants to build hundreds of thousands of new homes. So I say: Let them build.

Thank you @FurmanCenterNYU for this great work. We need to stay focused on increasing the housing supply for NYers.

To many people, new home construction is synonymous with gentrification. But this fall's analysis from the @FurmanCenterNYU reinforces how more supply drives down housing costs via @citylab's @sarahsholder buff.ly/48hSvLv
