Women know that men don’t scheme to “dress like girls” to assault them. They do it every day in broad daylight. And the ones in power protect each other to keep it quiet. Just ask the House Ethics Committee. Or the President-elect of the United States. Leave women alone.

I think @AOC’s argument about transgender bathroom bans is…pretty much perfect

NEW ANALYSIS: Section 212(f) gives President Biden the authority to “suspend the entry” of certain noncitizens into the U.S. But that power is not universal. Read more here. ➡️ immcouncil.co/3xemPtk

FYI, there is no evidence at all that Texas's actions to "lock down" ~5 miles of its 900+ mile border had any impact on crossings as opposed to Mexico's big crackdown. Border crossings have fallen lots of places: RGV Sector: 68% drop Tucson Sector: 33% drop Yuma Sector: 50% drop

NEW: More data on how significant the drop in illegal crossings in Texas' Del Rio sector (Eagle Pass) has been since TX locked it down and MX increased their enforcement. Per CBP sources: 71,048 apprehensions in December. 16,709 apprehensions in January. 76% decrease in 1 month.

Harrowing pic, especially with the context that the family was trying to get a place where they could turn themselves in to Border Patrol. They weren’t trying to sneak in, or evade arrest, or bring in drugs. They wanted to access a legal process and seek safety and a better life.

The House is voting this week on whether to authorize $886 billion for the Pentagon, despite the fact it has never passed an audit. Here are just a few examples of what we could do if we cut the Pentagon budget by $100 billion and invested in our communities instead. THREAD 👇

What's in the debt ceiling deal now moving through Congress? ❌ cuts for non-defense programs ❌ additional, onerous work requirements for SNAP and TANF ❌ a claw back in IRS funding to catch wealthy tax evaders ❌ weaker environmental protections Here are the details:

Study after study has proven that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than U.S. citizens. Statistically speaking, you're measurably safer living in a town filled with average undocumented immigrants than a town filled with average native-born citizens.

261000 illegal immigrants have committed some 430000 crimes including 800 homicides, 800 kidnappings, & 5000 assaults in last decade in Texas… and our border has never been more exposed & dangerous. #EndBorderCrisis

NEW REPORT: U.S. militarism in Latin America for over a century has created the conditions that forced people to flee their homes. At the U.S. border, migrants are detained, abused, and sometimes killed by border agents using military tactics and equipment.

I'm seeing a lot of confusion about this, so I want to walk everyone through the legal argument for why Title 42 will automatically end on May 11th when the Public Health Emergency expires. Bear with me for a brief thread.

When the CDC most recently put Title 42 in effect, it declared that the policy could end in 1 of 2 ways: 1) Public Health Emergency expires 2) CDC Director says it's no longer necessary. Republicans blocked the CDC Director from option 2. Blocking option 1 will be much harder.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court keeps the Trump-era Title 42 border policy in effect for now. The court says it will hear argument in February over whether red states can intervene in the litigation over the policy. The vote is 5-4, with Neil Gorsuch joining the three liberals.

Asylum is legal immigration. There's no "port of entry" requirement. There's no "visa" requirement. There's no "first country" requirement. You enter the United States, and you apply for asylum. Because asylum is legal immigration. Period. Period.

Congress is likely headed toward another debt ceiling crisis next year, where Republicans have threatened to use debt limit negotiations to force cuts to Medicare and Social Security. The truth is the debt limit is a manufactured crisis. Here's how we got here. 🧵

Last year, we pulled out of the war in Afghanistan. Yet still, we spent more on our military than the next seven countries combined this year. Next year? The Pentagon is getting ANOTHER $76 billion. Here's what the $858 billion Pentagon budget really means.
