The Democratic Party’s greatest recent failure is that when we had control of government, we did not pick a serious fight with Big Tech’s corruption of our media and information environment. I wrote about the political consequences of that mistake here. washingtonmonthly.com/2024/11/20/the…
Body Language: his cat hates him.
Periodic reminder: The Orange Man is Bad. It’s not really incumbent on us to have an additional animating principle, and other people (such as Brit) knowing that he is bad but running cover for him anyway reflects poorly on them and not us. -> thebulwark.com/p/actually-the…

"I'm @JohnBerman You might know me from a cable morning show, though not the one that might soon have a Defense Secretary who paid a woman that accused him of sexual assault, nor the one that just sent 2 anchors to Mar-a-Lago, then talked about it like it was the Yalta summit."
Listen, we should all give the speaker credit for standing up for an important principle, one rooted in fairness and law and order: If you resign, a taxpayer-funded ethics probe of your behavior should be kept from taxpayers, especially if you are an AG nominee. Admirable.
Again, some history: In 2011, John Ensign resigned his Senate seat the day before he was scheduled to give a sworn deposition to the Ethics Committee. A week later, the panel released its report and DOJ/FEC referrals. It was incredibly damning, almost as sordid as Gaetz stuff.
This sounded better in the original North Korean.
GOP Rep: If Trump says tariffs work, tariffs work. Donald Trump is really never wrong. Think about it. He is never wrong.
Wonder why Russia is allocating so much resource to pushing for Tulsi Gabbard to run all US intelligence agencies..
These people used to be called “Republicans.”

Im in the classic torture chamber where I cant tell if my internet keeps going out or whether #netflix is just constantly buffering and unwatchable for everybody
Cameraman getting smoked in the head by the cheerleaders during thunderstruck almost makes all this Netflix buffering worth it. #PaulTyson x.com/netflix/status…
By popular demand, here is my original translated clip from 2022, where Tulsi Gabbard was perturbed about alleged US attempts to overthrow Putin. State TV host Vladimir Solovyov described Tulsi as their "girlfriend" and agreed that she is Putin's agent. youtu.be/N2_eL8t8D9Y
We’re so fucked as a country
What I’m hearing privately from a few key GOP senators: yes, they’d prefer to not have a messy fight over Gaetz. Not their favorite. But they also don’t have a lot of energy for pushing back. Trump runs the show, they say. If Gaetz can reassure them, they’re open to backing him.
Alexander Hamilton: Senate's power to approve or reject a president's top nominees “would tend greatly to prevent the appointment of unfit characters,” including those “who had no other merit than that … of possessing the necessary insignificance and pliancy to render them the…
Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin on Matt Gaetz: “We had all seen the videos he was showing on the House floor…of the girls that he had slept with. He’d brag about how he would crush ED medicine and chase it with an energy drink so he could go all night.”
The one thing Trump understands, that Washington still doesn’t, is that the swing voters who decide elections don’t know who Tulsi Gabbard and Matt Gaetz are. They probably never will.
Trump's new border czar endorses deporting U.S. citizen children:
Cecilia Vega asks: “Is there a way to carry out mass deportation without separating families?” “Of course there is. Families can be deported together,” says Tom Homan, head of ICE during Trump’s family separation policy. cbsn.ws/4fixO5w
A few thoughts from the conversations I’ve been having and hearing over the last week: The hard question isn’t the 2 points that would’ve decided the election. It’s how to build a Democratic Party that isn’t always 2 points away from losing to Donald Trump — or worse. The…
Are we doing this again? Are the Hispanics who voted in the 2020 primary the ones who broke for Trump in 2024 or are we talking about a separate group of people? Do conservative Hispanics have a particular love for self-described socialists?
Same could be said, however, about blanket immunity from criminal prosecution for a president. Deporting citizen kids will be unconstitutional only if enough other #SCOTUS GOP Justices break from Thomas/Alito & Gorsuch, who seem unlikely to say no to Trump on anything.
Not sure how deporting US citizens of any age can be constitutional.
This is the ballgame
"These studies reveal an interesting fault line. While most women get their news from TikTok, most young men get their news from YouTube, X, and Reddit." Also, if you read a newspaper, odds are 3-to-1 you voted Harris. If you don't consume news, odds are 2-to-1 you voted Trump.
