Excited to announce our work on cytoplasm heterogeneity with @MolinesArthur @fredchanglab is published @BiophysJ! Check out the brand new analysis on ergodicity, where we estimate that spatial variation in cytoplasm viscosity has a domain size of ~200 nm. rb.gy/f76giz

Think the cytoplasm is well-mixed? Think again. In my latest work with @MolinesArthur and @fredchanglab we found the apparent viscosity of the cytoplasm may vary up to 100-fold (!) within individual cells, and 10-fold (!) between cells. A thread: (1/8) biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Turns out condensates grow faster when they are on both sides of a membrane! @YohanLee325 shows it beautifully in our new preprint. Transmembrane coupling accelerates the growth of liquid-like protein condensates biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Thrilled to share our latest work from my postdoc with @MartinLabMIT in @Dev_Cell ! We uncovered a mechanism linking DV axial patterning with AP axis extension through patterned cell-cell adhesion. Intrigued? Dive into the details here!

Online now: Postdoc Nat Clarke's @natclarke8 excellent work on a mechanism that coordinates tissue folding and axis extension. Great job and congratulations Nat!

This story started 5y ago with my lab. Spearheaded by fearless 1st authors @theopi and Olivia Leland. Theopi is now a PhD student at @BrownUniversity Olivia is a physics PhD student at @BrandeisU, a self-taught biologist, and made us love soft matter. A (very long) thread (1/24)
