A Netflix user will browse the app for 90 seconds and leave if they find nothing. Thumbnail artwork is actually NFLX's most effective lever to influence a viewer's choice. A user will look at one for only 1.8 seconds, so NFLX spends huge to optimize them. Here's a breakdown🧵

The Magento Performance Test build showed that updating #php to 8.1 improves #Magento performance by 10-15% compared to 7.4.

Not sure if you’re following @SergiiShymko but I highly recommend it. His tweets are like free static code analysis rulesets written as abstract pieces. 🥇 🔥 🙏

Random PHP tip, don't do: file_put_contents($dest, file_get_contents($src)); Instead, do: file_put_contents($dest, fopen($src, 'r')); This avoids reading the entire file into memory

When you want to re-new your @AdobeCommerce certification, be careful to NOT buy the "Adobe Certification Renewal" voucher. My colleague was told it cannot be used for the "old" certificates (unfortunately, only after the purchase). Go for the "Adobe All Voucher" instead.

I built a very simple file-based DB storage writer in PHP this week. It occurred to me tonight that I first wrote essentially the same mechanism in 2001, in Perl. That was 20 years ago. I've been re-using the same technique for 20 years 🤯

I keep thinking about this case. My hunch: <div style=“display:none” class=“ssn”>123-45-6789</div> File > Save As … Right-Click > Open in Notepad 🧐 Maybe the developer needs to be charged for mishandling of sensitive data.

This is no easy task, I can assure you. Div soup and an unclosed tag takes time to crack.

I’ve found a bit of a rhythm in reading to the kids every night before bed. 9, 8, 5, and 3 yrs old; we’ve finished The Hobbit, moving onto The Adventures of Robin Hood. It’s so much fun, and interesting to see that my child who has worst attention span listens best at this time.
